Shahnfu JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY CLASS OFFICERS President - - Vice President 1 - - - Duane Schnurr Lennis 0'NeilI Secretary-Treasurer - - Alvie Natvig Class Colors-Orange and Black In September 1926 sixty-seven Fresh- men entered the portals of good old New Hampton High. The first few days were spent by many in hunting for the right classrooms and trying to look bright. At one of our first cla meetings we elected officers and chose our class colors, orange and black. At the -beginning of the second semes- ter our class wlas enlarged but discolored by a few new and greener Freshies. A few members of our class dropped school at various times throughout the year. In our Sophomore year we were more successful in school activities. Several members of our class were prominent in Athletics. Swede Krieger was our out- standing all around athlete. As Sophomor- es we won the boys' interclass basket ball tournament. Our 'class was well represent- ed in declamatory work and music We st-arted our Jfunior year with the aim to make our class the outstanding class of the year. Miss Major and Mr. Lyford were appointed as our clpass ad- visers. Swede Krieger was elected joint cap- tain of the football team and 'also captain of the basket ball squad. Dub Whalen was elected captain of next yeiar's football eleven. We have been well represented this year in all branches of athletics. Our class has also been outstanding in other school activities. In declamatory work, Duane Schnurr went as far a the Pre-District Contest in the state series where he won second place. The Juniors have a great deal to do with The Master Key. We arealsoprominent in music. Twp members of our class represented New Hampton High School as soloists in the district music contest held at Waterloo. The Jvunior class put on ia play entitled Oh! Kay. This play was under the direction of Miss Major and proved a great success. - The class of '30 has, thus far, been successful in most of its enterprises and we are now looking forward to our Senior year when we intend to make a better record for ourselves.
