The date lS May Z9 1963, just ten years since the class of '53, a shining example of studious
scholars, graduated So lt'S about time we take a look around and see what they're doing by now
Believe It or not some of them are still around New Glarus Mr and Mrs George Ott Geri
Webber are farming southwest of town They have been making a b1g business out of raising steers
Especially since they have a new l1ne of them which Edd1e Zurkirchen and Harry Saxer developed o
their Stampmg Steer ranch in Nevada The boys have been making quite a prof1t, as they haven'
had to h1re any cowhands they herd their steers w1th hot rods
On the other side of town we found Mr and Mrs Don Rupnow Jeanette Duerst 1n partnership
w1th his brother on his Dad's farm They just got a new 'Chev1e' and they're taking thexr two little
boys up North on a vacation They needed a new car, their little eight year old smashed their old one
driving home from school Smart kid?
Of course Pete Fre1tag 15 still farming He and Claudette are running h1s folks farm and he just
bought h1mself a new tractor with the money he made doing book work part time for Ufflemanns Dime
The rest of the class 1s pretty well spread out around the umverse Gretchen Colney married
some m1l11ona1re and now she IS living in New York She was flight stewardess for TWA for s1x
months until she met him Oh well they always say a stewardess never lasts more than a year
Erwin Zwe1fel is also in New York running a school for cert1f1ed accountants He IS currently
givxng the President of the U S a specialized course in it and don't ever say he can't talk anyone into
Helen Meyers and Frick are married and living in Las Vegas They're co owners in an extremely
leg1t1mate gambling estab11shment out there Myrna Finke has been managing 1t for them do1.ng the
book work and so forth but she's going out on her own now The grand opening of her 'Reducing
Salon will be held next week
Sharon Zentner has been teaching home economics in a school in Il11no1s but I hear she has a
contract 1n New Glarus next year She recently had a recipe for Soufless Soufles published in the
Good Housekeeping, so she's really on the up and up
Luther Wyttenbach and Lloyd Duerst Just returned from a trip around the world Right after
graduation they designed a car wh1ch converts 1nto a boat and they left in August It took them quxte
awh1le but they returned hale and hearty to the1r faithful g1r1 fr1ends in Albany and Monticello
Weddmg bells w1ll probably soon be rlnglng
Don VonArx Joined the Air Force right after graduat1on and he's a colonel now He Just recently
Merlin Boley 15 l1v1ng around Black Earth 1n order to be near his in laws His tobacco farm has
expanded so lately that the Luckies Company has been contemplating on moving their main plant to
Glae Erb has a pet shop 1n Madison spec1al1z1ng 1n cats She'll deliver them within a radius of
one hundred miles with her new Dodge p1ckup
Carol Jelle and Jan1ce Marty have been working as secretaries for Oscar Meyers However
they're both wearing d1amonds so I guess you know what that means
It took us quite a wh1le to locate Vic Babler and Ole Lokken, but we f1nally found them They are
running a still down in the Ozarks Of course, it IS perfectly legal since they're puttlng out a side line
of We1sh's Grape Juice They ve been mak1ng quite a b1t of money and also own a big General Store
down in the Okeefenokee Swamps Bob Strahm has been running it for them for the last five years but
I heard he's getting rather bored with it so he's going back to drive hot rods for Edd1e and Harry
Al Hefty IS a halfback for the Los Angeles Rams After he retires he intends to take over
Emsteins place as a SC1entlflC genius, since quite a few Hefty theor1es have been gaming nat1onal
Ronnie Schne1der's been making quite a name for himself in architecture He started out in car
penter work and he's really worked his way up H15 latest ass1gnment 15 remodeling the Sing S1ng
Naturally, some of our class headed for Hollywood Monica Figy is assistant to Ed1th Head at
Paramount Recently she's been designing outfits for Jake Jenson who is the new king of the cowboys
since Roy Rogers retired
Then we have another famous person from our class Norbert Johnson is a pitcher for the Red
Sox and he has really been breaking records Recently he pitched a no hitter against the Cubs
Harold Sponem is a test dr1ver for the Chevrolet Corporatlon and he's bringing his son, M1111 ford
up to be the same Harold smashed up s1x of them last week however Hank Argue, who is the Chev1e
Corp newest des1gner designed one that is unsmashable Harold's st11l trying'
Donna Hanna really got the wander lust She has a rabbit farm in Australia She sends a rabb1t
to each of her classmates for Chr1stmas d1nner Ole sends his back to her for New Year's dinner
All 1n all the class has been fairly successful and prosperous Of course, there are a. few ex
cept1ons, as there are to every good thing W 're still bumming around the country 1n, our old "Model
A but we 1ntend to get a 'Model T next year so even we are slowly forging ahead
