All WRC conference players were Bob Maixner and Aaron Hewson, Mark Kilwien earned honorable mention. Overall it was a season to be proud of. Each day of the week had a different theme, and students in grades 7-12 dressed up in garb that reflected those themes. Their dress ranged from outfits common in the 50’s to many kinds of “hats and shades”, to dress up, to anything orange and black. Coronation is always one of the most exciting parts of any homecom- ing, and this year was no exception. Crowned during half-time of the girls basketball game were Queen Melanie Jalbert and King Jeff Hewson. Quickly becoming a tradition at NEHS is the annual volleyball tournament. For the second year in a row the faculty were champions, defeating the seniors. Following the volleyball tournament was the parade. The sophomores won the float competition with the theme “give’em the shaft”. Friday night, of course, was once again the highlight of an exciting week. The Tigers defeated the Scranton Miners 32-0, and a good time was had by all at the dance following the game. 27

The girls started it out by defeating Golva 72-20. The excitement continued when they also defeated Reeder on Thursday with a score of 52-22. During the week students enjoyed different “dress up” days. Monday was hat and shades day, Tuesday was 50’s day. Wednesday was punk rock day, Thursday was dress up day, and Friday ended the week with orange and black day. One event that the whole school got involved in was the volleyball tournament. The faculty won it again by defeating the seniors Friday was the big day. The band lead the parade proudly and the seniors had the winning float entitled, Let Tiger Spirit Soar. The Hootenany was held in the afternoon with skits and cheers to fire up our football team. It was a beautiful night for a football game, and the Mighty Tigers played on a dry field, unlike many other games that were played in the mud. The game was most exciting with the Tigers defeating the Flasher Bulldogs 32-0. This left happy spirits for a good Homecoming Dance. 29
