Text from Pages 1 - 18 of the 1933 volume:

The NEUME 1933 Published by THE SENIOR CLASS NEW ENGLAND CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS To CLIFTON JOSEPH FURNESS appreciation of his willing advice and assistance in the academic field, the Class of 1933 sincerely dedicates the NEUME, its yearhooli. We are living in an age of paradoxes. Though " employment " is hard to find, there was never greater opportunity for service. Music has a peculiar significance - it is needed in our present spiritual impasse as never before. Those who resolutely pursue the practice of the arts in these days of seasoning exi)erience will be amply rewarded. Soon highly trained musicians will be in a commanding ])osition because very many are dropping by the wayside. " No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom. " Continue in the way you have prepared for the future, and help to " point us to a better time than ours.
