Lynn Addison served as District VI president and Kay Longino, corresponding secretary. The District VI meeting was held in New Boston, November 3, 1962. Miss Grace Cowley played organ music for the pre-registration period, the coke break, and the luncheon hour. Travis Tyer, Young Adult Dept, , Dallas Public Library was the principal speaker. The largest crowd ever to attend a District VI convention registered, 302. John Crain was elected District VI Treasurer for the 1963-64 year. Lynn and Mrs. Longino, Librarian, attended the Fall State Executive Board meeting in Ft. Worth. The State Vice-President asked the New Boston Chapter to present "Texas under the Confederate Flag" as a part of the Theme "Texas - Under Six Flags. " This program was presented at the Friday afternoon meeting of the State TALA Convention in Ft. Worth, February 14-15-16. The New Boston Chapter nominated John Crain for State Vice-President and President-elect. John was unaminously elected. The New Boston TALA chapter has had three state officers in the last 8 years, Glenda McCord, Historiang Bobby Prange, Parliamentariang John Crain, Vice-President, President-elect. The Lions captured 3 trophies this year. They won the second place trophy at the Texarkana College Tournament. Darryl Thompson and Gerald Turner made the all-tournament team. The Lions were the champions in the Iron Belt Tournament at Dangerfield. Darryl Thompson and Jimmy Curtis made the all- tournament team. The Lions captured the District 13 AA championship by defeating the Clarksville Tigers. The Lions sported a 10-l record in District play, a 23-6 seasonal record. The Lions defeated the Linden-Kildare Tigers in Texarkana February 26 taking the Bi-District crown. Billy Pierce turned in a star performance by bucketing 24 points. The team's leading scorers were Jimmy Curtis with an average of l8 points, and Darryl Thompson with a l5 point average. Dusty Grimes, Billy Pierce and Jimmy Vinson played outstanding defensive ball. Other members ofthe team included Gerald Turner, Ricky Ferguson, and Mike Jordan. The Lions played Lancaster in the first game ofthe Regional play-offs. Lancaster won by a score of 49-45. Our boys played a good game. We were groud of them.
