Out of the 22 games played, the Macmen turned in a record of fourteen victories and eight defeats. This is the best season for the hoopla boys in five years. Especially noteworthy is the fact that Coach McConnell's Bulldogs scored wins over such top-notch teams as Jeff, Martinsville, South Side of Fort Wayne, Wash- ington, and Richmond. One! Two! . . . Every day we hear this command in our gym classes as we drill shoulder to shoulder in military fashion. We hang by our hands and kneesg We swing from bar to bar on a horizontal ladder in the manner of our prehistoric ancestors. To prove that our nerves are steady, we walk backward on a narrow beam and do a deep knee bend in the middle of it fwithout falling off, we hopej. Touching our toes and doing scissors jumps made us groan and gave us sore muscles at first, but calisthenics are fun now. We know they make us look like potential Powers models. Just for fun, we go hiking and horseback riding through golden autumn hills or over green spring grass. Swimming also proves a delightful sport as well as good exercise. When cold weather curtails outdoor pleasure, we play ping pong and badminton during lunch hour. There's keen competition between teams in our after-school basketball games. This all adds up to the fact that we're healthy and ready for any job Uncle Sam wants us to do-as civilians or in uniform. Juanita Akers, Helen Hittner. Ruth Lukemeier. Mildred Barr, Joyce Dean, Dorothy Mann. Jane Ellenbrand. Doris Goetsch, Juanita Bigler. 'ff- f 'YJ lt 49' V,-A Q- Jvc.
