JUNIORS The Junior Class started out the big events of the school year with the presentation of the Junior Class Play, Winning Scherners. The play was staged on December 4, 1947, after sev- eral weeks of preparation. The play was a farce comedy packed with laughs. You can just imagine the fun that is derived from the predicament of a happily married young couple suddenly find- ing themselves confronted by the visit of his uncle and her aunt. Neither the aunt nor the uncle knew of the secret marriage of the two. and both were thoroughly opposed to matrimony. The young husband, at the insistence of his wife, disguised himself as her girlfriend so as to fool her aunt. and later she dressed like a, boy in the attempt to throw the uncle off the track. The leading parts of GEORGIA and PHILLIP PAGE were played by Dolores Nancarrow, and Dean Johnson. The supporting cast was as follows: AUNT JANE--Jean Quast, UNCLE HARRY--James Shortridge, MARY BARTON--Phyllis Fradenburgh, HANNAH-- Verla Vokes, LOUISE CALDWELL--Evelyn Miller, CUNNING CARL--Vincent Booge, THE OFFICER--Warren Sartain. Before they became Juniors, Dale Moberg, Donald Harnmer, Raymond Demmon and Helen Hanson dropped our ranks. Dolores Nancarrow's re-entering brought the enrollment of the class to fourteen. Of these members there are several who represent the class in different school activities, such as: Vincent Boog, Gunnar Husby, and Warren Sartain on the Basketball team: Harold Schubert, Vincent Booge, and Gunnar Husby on the Football team: Dean Johnson, Warren Sartain, and Phyllis Fradenburgh in the band. Other activities represented by the Junior Class are: Student Council, Newspaper, and Annual Staff. After putting the candidate for Carnival Queen on the throne for two years: Evelyn Miller, Freshrrian: Phyllis Fradenburgh, Sophomore: the Junior Class failed to place their candidate, Lois Scott, on top in the contest.
