Dr. Jerry J. Vineyard Superintendent ol Schools I gi eltrfle Klufkx gctetnty Time So many people have philosophized relative to time and its value that literary gems are easily available to express almost an v' ' y lewpoint. Well do I remember the Facetious remark of Mr Callahan, a teacher when he observed time Flying by and duties undone l-le would I . para- phrase an old Latin adage, Tempus tugit, with his own Latin-English version, Tempus tudges. All young people need to develop as early as possible a sane t- a titude toward the proper use of time. Benjamin Franklin believed in diligence and abhorred a waste ot time. One opinion was IF ti :me be ot all things the most precious, wasting time must be the greatest prodigality .... He also presented a forceful argument on th' is point in these words: Dost thou love lite? Then do not squander time, For that is the stuff lite is made oh The busy man always gets an extra task done which a loafer can never Find time to do because he organizes his time Titman su . pr ported this observation: Well arranged time is the surest marlc of a well arranged mind , and l-lume said, A man's time, when well hus- banded, is like a cultivated Field, of which a Few acres produce more ot what is useful to lite than extensive provinces, . . . Chesterfield proposed a sane view with a Few words: Know the true value of timeg snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of itg-- no idlenessg no laziness morrow wh,-L Jou can do today. gno procrastinationgs-never put oft till to- Cordially yours,

To N. H. S. Students: Two ot your most precious assets are Lite and lime. You may be surprised to learn that N. l-l. S Seniors have some 25,000,000 minutes ot lite expectancy remaining. Any one ot these minutes may not seem very significant to you, but we cannot without astonishment realize how swittly a minute passes away, almost imperceptibly, and yet in a short while the minutes of our lives are all exhausted. During your tenure in N. l-l. S. l hope that you learn the basic slnills necessary For living most abundantly in our democracy. You should never lose sight ol: the Fact that your American heritage is a priceless possession and only through education will you be able to appreciate it to the tullest. Through education you should be achiev- ing a sense ot individual responsibility, you should be taking advantage ot your opportunities to progress, and you should be realizing a liull measure ot Freedom. At your ages, you still have an abundance ol: life in a sea ol: Time. It is my wish For each N. l-l. S. student that your great re- sources ot Lite and Time wlll be utilized to build a better world. May you Find the true goal of living---happiness. Respectfully, F1xgW.,y7e I Neffe lnw O d SeCl'5ita,y O C. l-l. Jones, Jr., M. Ed. Principal
