ifll!HE!BKJf.!lEKI3!lLl!l!!Ql3iliilIRll8JIZllEi5!1lE3?1Di!fXlIYflIXQ13iliJISlI?'Q FOUR VOYAGES OF THE SENIORS The Class of '27 started its voyage in search of knowledge in September, 1923. For Captain of their ship Freshman they selected Martin Crigler, and in case of sea sickness, Elmer Jackson was to take his place. To keep a record of the voyage Neva Farley was elected and their hoard of money was to be in care of Lois Sharp. At the helm stood Miss Callaway, sponsor for the whole crew. The good ship Freshman often found the rea rough and narrowly escaped running upon the shoals but always the crew worked manfully and the ship was saved. May 19, the cry of Land! Land ! brought the crew and passengers scrambling to the deck and after the ship anchored safely in port the crew and pas- sengers were given a furlough of three months. Nearly every member was eager to secure a position on the new and better ship which was to leave port in September 1925 and their applications were gladly ac- cepted at headquarters. This ship, Sophomore, had an able crew composed of Miss Callaway, Guide and Helmsmang Warren Mosely, Captain, William Sterett, First Mate, Vesta Young, Recorder, and Viola Murphy, Purser, and they guided it safely through the many dangers of the journey. The crew of the Junior Ship was Miss Winnberg, Helmsman and Sponsorg Warren Mosley, Captain, Gay Barton, First Mate, Henrietta Hartsook, Recorderg and Elmer Jackson, Skipper. Here the voyage was begun in earnest. All through the journey the Class of '27 was represented in all the activities and made a remark- able showing. In September, 1926, the Senior Ship sailed from port Nevada High School out into an unknown sea. Now the sailors began to feel their importance, and they chose a crew capable of handling such a worthy ship. The Commander of the great fessel was Miss Clack, and the Captain, William Steretti who like the merry pirate of old commanded his ship with a firm and authoritative hand. As First Mate for the Captain, Lewis Canaday was chosen. The record of the voyage had to be kept enclosed in parchment that would weather the ages so that future generations might profit by the superior knowledge gathered by the crew and passengers of- this great ship, therefore the quill and ink were assigned to James Stratton. Ocean trade was profitable business and, too, there was always the chance of finding hidden treasure, so it was necessary for Lorine Wolfe to care for and conceal the wealth that the Good Ship acquired. Often the crew and passengers became discouraged and asked What shall we do? hoping to receive instructions to turn back, but always came the answer, Sail on! Sail on! and on ! The Red and White still waved gloriously over the remain- ing ones. The Senior Ship captured every banner and every flag, besides many individual awards. One or two of the sailors who suffered from lack of adventure plunged into the whirlpool of matrimony and were never more to be seen pacing the decks of the ship. Then finally there came into view on the horizon Port Graduation the termin- al port of the four-year voyage. Laughter and joy prevailed but a few tears were shed because the sailors and passengers were to separate and board the many doubt- ful ships called The Future. DOROTHY INGLES.
