At the close of the -ceremony, punch and wafers were served. Following this the troupe members and their sponsor, Miss Rena Leddell, attended a banquet in their honor. Belonging to Thespians, a National Dramatic Society, is the highest dramatic honor a high school student may receive. During 1952, Patricia Smith, Shirley Greiner, Patsy Terhune, and Nancy Sorensen received the honor of being initiated into Thespians, CHARTER MEMBERS, LEFT TO RIGHT: Marlin Ogden, Janet Newton, Larry Pence, Barbara lxlcCollnm, Miss Lidd Sponsor, Janet Taylor, Keith Shickell, Dolores Wilson, Max Sylvester, and Pat Young. 19 bLnTE1J Shirley Greuier susan bchuidl r Pat Young, Pat Smith, Martin Ogden. John Harkness The Nevada Players are presenting "THE TWELVE POUND LOOK," by Sir James Barrie this spring as their one-act contest play. Under the very able direction of Mrs. Phyllis Lyders, they have won Division I ratings at the preliminary and pre-district contests. They are now looking forward to their next contest, the district, where they hope to receive another I rating, and thus compete in the state contest, The play revolves around Sir Harry, a very over- bearing man who is about to be knighted, and the typist he hires through an employment agency. When the typist appears, he discovers that she is Kate, his former wife. Because her life seemed meaningless in Sir Harry's society, she left him after secretly earning twelve pounds. After an interesting reminscent conversation, Kate warns Sir Harry that Emmy, his present wife, might also be growing tired of his pompousness. Kate is soon dismissed, and the play closes with a dramatic climax, Emmy, who has just been scolded by Sir Harry, starts to leave the room, then hesitatingly stops at the door and asks, "Are they very expensive?" Sir Harry barks at her, "What'?" Quietly she says, "Those .... machines. The annual staff has worked earnestly and eagerly on the Cub '52, doing their best to make it the biggest and most complete annual ever to be presented to the school. For us there have been many moments ofboth amusement and anxiety when we were planning the "dumrr1y," taking the actual pictures, typing the final copy, and sending the packages of fifteen pages at a time to the publisher. Now our work is done, and we are bothered by only one question. You can help us answer it. Did we succeed in giving you an annual of which you're proud? Stars sparkling in the moonlit sky, the prince and his princess, the ghost white horses drawing the magnificent "pumpkin carriage," all seemed to bring the fairytale CINDERELLA to life, April 20, l95l, as the juniors presented the annual Junior-Senior Prom at the V, F. W, Hall. The walls of the ballroom were adorned with large paintings, depicting various scenes from the story, One painting was of Cinderella's mice friends Jacque and Gus pulling and tugging up the stairs, the key which would unlock Cinderella and enable her to try on the slipperg another was of the duke trying the glass slipper on Cinderella, there was also a picture ofthe carriage taking Cinderella to the castle for the ball. ln the center of the dance floor stood a quaint old well. lf you were to make a wish and throw in a coin, your wish was sure to come true. From a small balcony overlooking the ballroom came the strains of Ralph Zarnow's orchestra. Eight--nine--ten--eleven--the hour of twelve has comeg the ball is over!! l 46 fsffm. or 'MH' X K ,fo rr J'-ix 1 A: f 4 N X x H, 0 xxx f" -Q., 1' , IA 'N 5.
