64144 ,Maier Dear Al I wuz just thrnkln about all the good tlmes we had rn skool over the past srx yeers now that I m gonna gradrate It shore wuz strange the furst day we came rnto the Nether Provrdence H1 Skool Everybody wuz so much brgger than us However we got used tort later on but got lost walkrng to classes so much that we nev er thought we would learn what room wuz where Remember ol Mrss Baldellr and Mrssus Lrcklrter and later on Mr Iamrson the pop corn man? We met a lot of people when the krds frum Wallmgford Skool and Garden Cnty Skool and the South Medra Skool got rn the same homerooms We never seemed to have enuf trme to get nywhere and always ran up and down the halls lrke krazee people That wuz the yeer when Mr Kane and Mr l-laupt came back Boyl I remember when they furst got back how we wuz all afrard of them hal hal but not now Al not now Well rn erghth grade rt wuz a lot drfferent we weren t much scared or nothrn We had a lot better luck gettrn frum one class to another and soon we learnt the trtcks of the trade fhookran pomes etc 5 member those gym classes wrth Mr Haupt yellrn Anson Bledsoe Bryson Drggrns Duff Elsbree Fulton Harrrs Hubler Neal Oakes etc We got to know the names of most of the teachers by then and one more than all the rest Miss Berger Boyl When we had her for lrbrary we cancelled all engagements for after skool I don t think there wuz one day we drdn t stay after skool That wuz the yeer when we wen to Sandy banks Skool to have our play Ol Bryson wuz the propman and forgot every srngle prop we had except the cast That yeer wuz the flrst yeer of a Jooner hr football teem and we had a purdy good teem too Remember ol Eddie Moat? Boyl Thar guy wuz brgger than all the teachers and he wuz only rn erghth grade It wuz east er on us that yeer because there wuz krds rn skool smaller than us when the seventh graders came to skool Our class got a llttle brt wild at trmes Remember when Hubler Oakes and Surrrck took a shot at sum brrds rn Mr Mader s room and he got all three of them wrth one brg swrng An Mrss Selrg an how ya never knew what wuz gonna happen next We wuz sorta radrkal that yeer and couldn t see why we had to follow some of taken over the honors In 9th grade we came to skool countin the days trll we would get out That yeer we got a lot of new people rn our class wrth most of them comm from Brookhaven There wuz Eaton Samson Carpenter Whrt and a bunch of grrls too noomerous to mentron By this trme us old trmers were died rn the wool veterans of two campargns and thought we knew rt all I guess we got rn trouble rn every class Mr Hess Mr Wentz Mr Kane and just about every teacher rn the skool gave us a talk They wuz neerly gonna krck us rite outa skool They even had a teachers meetrn on our behalf We fmally settled down after a whrle an almost acted normal We wuz allowed to choose our own classes that yeer and sum went rn the acedemrc commer cial and general courses We got our frrst taste of languages that yeer and everbody wuz gorn around talkrn Latrn Spanrsh and French After a cuple of weeks the novelty of the our monsreur sr senor and the hrc haec hoc s dyed out The Jooner hr teem lost only one game that yeer That wuz the yeer the wrong way Charlre Heame ran around the basketball court shootrng at the wrong basket We fmally reached the home stretch rn our drrve for freedom as we looked forward to our sofmore yeer When we came back rn tenth grade we found a lot of new faces and mrssed a lot of old ones In place of Tracy Morrrs Shaw Larson and sum other grrls we had Reynolds Walker Reese Travrs and Pratt Sum of the boys were gone too guys lrke West Pomt Amson Elsbree Fulton Steele and sum others The only Joker we got rn therr place was Rob Stotz Our class had fmally gotten down to a workable number and we elected Fred Reynolds as our presrdent We started gettrn thrngs orgamzed for our Jooner and seenyor yeers We sold Xmas candy for money and fmally got a lrttle brt of monie tn the class treasury They started that talk about the new skool agrn lrke they drd rn seventh grade but we knew by that trme we weren t gonna see rt whrle we wuz rn skool I guess they ll have rt the yeer after we leave We had a purty good football teem that yeer The more I tlunk a bout ll the more I thrnk that wuz the dullest yeer we ever had 30 o 3 ' . . . . , .
