October 21 Lamar played host to Neosho. This was a very close game and both teams foughttothelastsecond asthefiralscoreshoved,ltwas 7-6, October 28 Webb City, in order to get revenge for the victory the Wildcats won last year, walked over the Wildcats. ln the first half the score, went in favor of the Wildcats. However, in the last half the Cardirals showed their strength The final score was not pleasing to the Wildcats-Webb City had their revenge. November 4 The Aurora l-loun' Dogs upset the Neosho Wildcats at their homecoming In the first half Neosho led all the way by the score of 12-6, However, in the third period the Houn' Dogs began to roll,, and they kept going for the rest of the game. The final score made a very unhappy homecoming for the Wildcats. November 11 Neosho traveled to Monett to be defeated by the score of 36-O. The Mon- ett Cubs pulled out in front in the first minutes of the game and continued to raise their score. November18 Neosho was the scene of a hard fought football game between the Wild- cats of Neosho and the Tigers of Nevada. This was without a doubt the best game of the year for the Neosho team, although they did drop the game by the score of 27-I9. November 23 Mt. Vernon rolled over Neosho by the score of 46-O. To the Neosho team it was more than just a defeat, for this was the first time in l6 years that Mt, Vernon had won, This brings to a close the l949 season. Better luck next year. October 7 Neosho and Carthage fought it out in their annual battle. Both teams were in fine shape ard all through the game the teams gave their best. Both teams had the tull backing ot their schools. All in all the game was tops, The final score was l3-l3t October 14 Neosho traveled to Baxter Springs, Kansas. There they were again de- feated. The score at the end of the game was l9-6.
