SENIORS The seemingly impossible has happened. Only four years ago we had been inexperienced green- hornsv stumbling around the halls of N. H. S., now we have become alumni with our goal-graduation -behind us. lt was a good four years with many happy memories to look back on. As freshmen we were oriented into high school life with the annual Cub Mixer. After that first plunge we lived through the shock to carry on happily the remainder of the year. We elected john Kalfahs as class president, with Frank Wiesner as vice-president, Marlyn Anderson, secretary, and jack Schaefer, treasurer. The girls elected to the Girls' Senate for that year were joan Zaumeyer, june Reynolds, Kathryn Pheifer, and Muriel Schneider. The boys started going out for sports, and we all began to join the various clubs. As freshmen our major class activity was putting on a dance exclusively for freshmen. After a satisfying freshman year we were glad, nevertheless, to return in the fall to find an entire class younger than we were. This really made us determined to show our maturity, and it was then that our boys began to take over the B teams in sports. Not to be outdone, everybody began to show a little more leadership in the different school organizations. Our class sponsored numerous after- game dances that year which proved to be very successful. We also sponsored the all-school Fizz- Festn where everybody had a lot of fun at a slightly different dance. Our sophomore class president was Don Metz, with jim Murphy as vice-prcsidentg jillene Raisler, secretary, and Ronald Garfield, treas- urer. We returned the next fall as upper classmen with the one big job cut out for us that is always con- nected with being a junior-the prom. The officers we elected to lead us in this task were jerry Kuehl, president, jim Sturgis, vice-president, and Nancy Owen and Dennis Strey, as secretary and treasurer, respectively. The prom committees were formed almost immediately after class elections, and work was begun. After much doubt and anxiety on the part of all those concerned as to the outcome. the great night, May 5th arrived. The finished product was successful, however, and several hundred couples had a marvelous time dancing to jimmy james' music under the Blue Moon. The prom, however, was not the only item on our junior social calendar. The varsity teams were now comprised largely of juniors, and many club leaders were also from our class. We were, in addi- tion, active in such organizations as forensics, debate, band, and choir. The following fall we returned to N. ll. S. ar ' with some surprise found ourselves to be the real school leaders in our own right. To lead us in the final all-important year we selected Dick jorgenscn as president, Pete Thomson, vice-president, Dorothy Schabo, secretary, and Donna Burr, treasurer. Career Day was held in October, and helped many of us on some career problems that had been bothering us. It was this year, too, that we led both the various teams and many clubs and organi- zations. However, early in the year we found our- selves busy with activities labeled for seniors only. These, of course, included preparing for graduation pictures, being measured for caps and gowns, and ordering our cards and announcements. Almost be- fore we realized it, our last prom was upon us. Enjoying it fully we then found ourselves at the Senior Banquet. This preceded our last participa- tion in any N. ll. activity-baccalaureate and graduation. These were held on june l, and june 4, respectively and marked the close of our N. fl. career. The four years that had seemed so endless when we started school in 1948 are now gone, and wc soon will have new goals to be striving for. We will never completely forget Neenah High School. however. lt will remain forever in our memories.
