Coach WBillV Cook proved his ability as a football coach. He won the confidence and admiration of the team and overcame the difficulties of man shortage and the difficulties of transporting the players to the various games away from home with apparent ease., - . CAPTAIN ATKINS John T. Atkins captained the N.H.S. Mustangs through the past season Johnny is known throughout the league for his unquestioned sportsman- ship and ,ability to pull a play out of the air when necessity arose. He proved to be an able and popular leader and an excellent field general. A ' PYEATT-ZUMWALTATROPHY ' For the first time in the history of Needles High School a trophy was presented to the most outstanding athlete of the year. The award was given by James Pyeatt and Delbert Zumwalt, members of the graduating class of 1943, and presented to John T. Atkins for his versatility as an athlete and sportsmanship.
