Of America FFA Officers: Ken Reese, Reporter; Jerry Wirth, Vice-President; Tim Crook, President; Alan Stukenholtz, The Future Farmers of America, sponsored by Mr. Sorenson, has 90 members compared to 80 last year. Their purpose is to develop agricultural leadership and cooperation. To be a member you have to learn the FFA Creed and have a citizenship project. The FFA boys meet every second Thursday of each month at 7:30 in the Ag Room. It was not all work and no play for the Secretary; Leonard Crook, Treasurer; Stan Johnson, Sentinel. Ag boys. The year was highlighted by the annual FFA Banquet and FFA Sweetheart Dance. Other activities included selling pop corn at football and basketball games and the Pawnees Big Bluestem Test Plot, which was a first for FFA. Leonard Crook received a first place individual ribbon at the District Soil Judging Contest. Ag boys construct feed bunks. Mr. Sorenson explains the use of the table saw. 29

Penmanship and Patience: The Otoean Otoean Editors: first semester--Bonnie Brannon, Susan Crum; second semester--Louise Phillips, David Coufal. The Otoean, our high school newspaper, was in it's forty-fifth year of publication this year. The staff was composed of twenty-three members including ten sophomore trainees. Changes in the papers policies were made by the new sponsor, Mrs. Lois Berger. There were also four editors instead of the usual two. They were Susan Crum and Bonnie Brannon for the first semester. Louise Phillips and David Coufal were the editors for the second semester. The group meets second period during the week and on Wednesday night once every three weeks to make up the paper.
