People Freshmen Together We Can Lick Anything! Melissa Anderson Kyle Berck Mark Binder Clint Bokelman Lynette Clevenger Randy Dockweiler Sheila Ehrismann Kayla Fling Shelli Grosch Patrick Harvey - Vice President Sponsored by THE CLASS OF ’87 22 The ’83-’84 Freshman Class can handle anything together. We’re a really close class, and work together to help each other out. We've taken on new identities as Freshmen, and are now involved in Typing I, Algebra I, Varsity and Junior Varsity sports, INSIGHT, and REFLECTOR. We're enjoying being part of the “High School” even though we take a lot of harassing from upper classmen. We're also enjoying the new friendships we've gained and are looking forward to another great year, next year as Sophomores, a little step closer yet to the goal.

Judy Grantham Taylor, a Sophomore when the school first began, writes and shares some of her memories of her first year here: “‘The faculty and staff of twelve and the student body of forty became a close knit group who enjoyed excellent classes, music trips, parties, missionary conference, dorm life, Gospel teams, making of a weekly radio broadcast, the beginning of the athletic program, and new friendships which have lasted twenty-five years. “Being a Sophomore at NC the first year was an adventure in making history. We were desirous that our speech and action would be honoring to our Heavenly Father, our families, and the school.” Judy and Ken Taylor (also a Sophomore of the first year) farm near Aurora. Their son Brant is a Sophomore as we celebrate the 25th anniversary. Their daughter, Dana, is a first grader, also at N.C. , 2 Sponsored by FARMER’S NATIONAL BANK, CENTRAL CITY

Looking Back ... In the fall of 1958, Suzanne McDonald Brunken was a Freshman at NC. We interviewed her to find out just what being a Freshman twenty-five years ago was like. She said because the classes were so small they didn’t do a lot as individual classes, but as a school. Some of the activities she remembers include picking up corn, dressing up for banquets, and going to a big trackmeet out of state. Kids in all classes were treated the same. No one was really considered an “upper” or “lower”’ classman. It was like one big family. Suzanne was the only off-campus student that year, but she was included in most of the dorm activities anyhow. The rules were different than those now. Makeup and slacks weren’t allowed. There was no dating and dresses had to touch the floor when girls knelt. Suzanne now resides with her family in Clarks, Nebraska.
