Pl This 1951 MARYGOLD holds the secret to our future . . . the Light which we pray will guide us on our path through this world darkened by confusion and strife . . . Please read and see how here at Nazareth we have learned to be true Chris- tophers, the bearers of the Light, in our daily actions, our prayers, our play . . . Given this Light, we are determined to be Light-Bearers, Christ-Bearers . . . to pierce with the light of His principles the cloud of darkness which covers our world . . . to hold that light steady . . . to allow no strong wind to extinguish it . . . And as you read will you not echo our prayer that the light glowing from our MARYGOLD cast a spark upon other hearts so that together we can change the world, making it ablaze for Christ? There is variety in the life of our twenty-tive resident students: chapel, rush to classes, after-school chores and activities, outdoor strolls, recreation, study, and, of course, bed, dormitory-style. The mood is gay during the Halloween frolic prepared by the freshmen and during the Christmas candle- light supper with the singing of carols and the exchange of gifts, as also during the birthday surprises. Yes, there is fun in the close com- panionship of others and thrills in going home for the holidays, but there is also much seriousness and earnestness in "our convent days," the boarders claim. Clockwisez 0 Prepared for the worst weather during their aftemoon jaunt are Leonor Leonard and Joan Rafferty. 0 Mary Domurat and Josephine Hahn as true Nancy Anns make ready for a visit to the chapel. o "This is the way we wash our clothes . . . sometimes," smiles Jacqueline Kolsun as Marianne Brandt irons another blouse. The aspirants, living now in the newly reorganized Iuniorate at Sacred Heart Hall, have come into their own, becoming a small but important part of our everyday lives. XVithin each of you, were you to release it, is the capacity to make the whole world a better place than you found it. Begin with your relig- ion." Thus speaks Father Iarnes Keller, NLM., the founder of the Christopher Movement. If others in our own U. S. do not have God's truth, it is up to us to share it with them. But Nancy Ann, turned Christopher, knows that in order to share she must Hrst have. That is why she, in life as well as in this MARY- GOLD, "begins with her relig- ion." 'il ,oy if e v 1 1- Father Ignatius Szal distrib utes diplomas and medals to the new members of the So dality, the sophomores Children of Mary, we, the students of Nazareth, see in Our Lady the perfect model for the Christophers. The Sodality, un- der Sister M. Benedict as mod- erator, imbued with this spirit ever encourages us to imitate Mary in personal holiness. Through pamphlets and other literature placed at our disposal, through our monthly meetings held by our enthusiastic prefect, Loretta Wissman, through the frequent reminders over the public address system, we are urged to express in action our ardent love for Mary and her Son. "Here I kneel a child of Mary", thus we sang in praise of Our Lady on one of our red-letter days, that of the May Coronation. In a once seen never forgot- ten ceremony the Sodality Prefect placed with tender devotion the wreath of roses upon NIary's statue proclaiming her our Mother and our Queen. XVe then crowned her too with love and promises of loyalty to her and her Son, the Christ we would always bear in our hearts. Thomas, Class of '50 r'- " A fl Catholic University diploma for aflilliaictelcfishigli schools from Rt. Rev. Msgr. Francis J, Furev Rector of St. Charles Seminary: And now we say Farewell. In studies we grew together learning of the world we are now entering and of the duties awaiting us . . . in our play, we gave ourselves completely to companionship, to the spirit of the game . . . and during work or during play, in gay or in serious days, we ever turned to Cod in petition, in thanks- giving . . . And now, bearing the light of His principles, the Christopher principles, ready though fearful of the un- known . . . we again ask His grace that we may not stumble upon our new path . . . that, if we Udo, we may quickly rise again . . . onward to Him VVho is the Christ. the Light of the YVorld. hxullllm H im? iwxuwfi Xlfllifls X IIT III X XISC IIC F I XXX'XIC7XIx X IOIINI DXIX X I IXXI D001 'X 1 X IOIIN X IIX IIX I X I X I X IX X I X I IJXX -XRD IIOPFXILXN IOSI IH C III OSI'XSIxI I I ON E IXXX OROXVSKI XILI II XX XIONID I XILII Xll C IOIIN L Nlf LNT IOS IH X SI N Ix' 'N S I SKCDXXIICJXSRI X IOSI PIII SXXII III X IFN XTIUSI S7XI CII XPI XIX S X IIII7 IS XIII I -XI DO 9 III XND was STLI 1113x BUIILZXNSIXI -XND was A EX XNCIC 11 1 11 CIIIFFINI xx XIIIS 111111111 151 1 XIII nu was IOSI 111 x111Jx191 un was L I IJIILX IIXI cm S111 TL XI xv FXXIII 3 I DXX XRD X XX XLSH XIII FIIXNIXI XXILIx IIJ XIII -XNIJ XIIIS I IIOI Is1OXX Slxl IIIIIFIMII I'11I1'1111f1 . 5 1 5 . 3. .
