CIC, Combat,-The gfes and ears of ship, in this little 12 ly 16foot space, the radar set voice J radio transmitters and receivers, chart desk, DRT, status boards, plotting boards, fathometer, LORAN, IFF and an occasional cup of Cofee are to be found. It is manned ly the radarmen plotting contacts, maintaining an up to date navigational picture and receiving and sending voice communictions. The ETS see to it that all these electronics items are Ice t ealzed u so P P P that the radarmen can use it to the best advantage. Up above, on the bridge are the quarter masters and signalmen. fThese men must have the cleanest clothes aboard all dcyf long we h d h l see t em iying t eir aundiy on the habfards or Waving it to and fro on the end of a sticlzj. Down below CIC in Radio Control is Where it would seem. Ifyou continue on down inside the ship you will find the ship's office, mdlllled b the eomen and th ' ' jf jf o er species of broad beamed pencil pushers. These folks maintain all the service records, prepare all the ship's correspondence and distribute the plan of the dcgf. Taken all together, these people are the OPS Division, O erations d 'h ,D , an Wit out them We could not operate as an effective unit of the fleet. the dit-dah bqfs hang out, always hearing things
