THOMPSON, XVARREN JAMES - Age 20.
"Tommy" is the eternal sunshine of Mrs. Margaret
Thompson of 213 47 St., Union City, N. J. He kicked
over the traces at N. Y. C. on the first anniversary
of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and wound up with
Co. 522, Sampson. Formerly a machinist with the
Chicago Puenmatic Tool Co., he is anxious to get
his quota of Japs.
TIBERIO, JOSEPH XVILLIAM-Age 22. A tool
and die maker in the pre-fracas era, Joseph enlisted
at Boston Jan. 21, 1943, and underwent indoctrination
with Co. 696, Newport. The son of Mr. and Mrs.
Paniflo Tiberio ol' 299 Pearl St., Malden, Mass., he
hopes to snag a rate ere many moons pass, and do
dirt to the Axis.
TITUS, FRANCIS L.-Age 18. The erstwhile re-
sponsibility of Mr. and Mrs. George Titus of 2005
Arlington St., Camden, N. J., Francis dived off the
deep end at Philadelphia Nov. 27, 1942, and was ini-
tiated with Co. 448, Sampson. He formerly attended
vocational school, and worked as a dispenser of sodas
on the side. He is sold on aviation.
TRIMBOLI, JOHN J.-Age 22. John was an
apprentice tool maker prior to his faux pas at
N. Y. C. Feb. 1, 1943, and his incarceration at the
Sampson boot bastile with Co. 470. The son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Tromboli, Sr., of 258 94 St.,
N. Y. C., he harbors hopes of wangling assignment
to the Fleet. He is strong and silent.
TRIVETT, JAMES R.-Age 28. "Jim'l hails from
69 Orchard St., Bloomfield, N. J., the son of Mr. and
Mrs. James Trivett. He committed the fatal error
at Newark, N. Feb. 15. 1943, and suffered the
consequences with Co. 156, Newport. He was a crane
operator with John T. Clark, Terminal Operators,
N. Y. C., in the good old days.
UMEK, FRANK JAUL-Age 24. Frank hopes to
remain in the Navy until he makes ACMM or possibly
warrant officer. The child prodigy of Mrs. ,Frances
Umek of 227 Cooper St., Brooklyn, N. Y., he joined
up at N. L. C. Nov. 23, 1942, and was shipped to
Sampson, where heendured basic punishment with
Co. 441. He is primarily interested in mechanics.
VAN AERNUM, HURLEY L.-Age 18. The
white hope of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis G. Van Aerum of
Route 4, Albion, N. Y., "Van" enlisted at Buffalo
Dec. 12, 1942, and gobbled his first Navy grub
with Co. 470, Sampson. He was previously a farmer.
He hopes to continue in aviation.
VAN LANDSCHOOT, R. R.4Age 20. R. R. is
a contribution of Rochester, N. Y., and the offspring
of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Van Landschoot. He signed
up at his home town in January, 1943, and took his
medicine with Co. 448, Sampson. He likes aviation
mechanics, and hopes to continue in this field after
he is released from the Navy.
VOSBIKIAN, HARRY-Age 21. f'Vossie,' did it
at Philadelphia Dec. 13, 1942, and cooled in ardor
with Co. 451, Sampson. A former automobile me-
chanic and machinist, he likes to drag lines, preferably
chow, and yearns to marry a millionairess. He is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Melkon Vosbikian, 1913 No.
Franklin St., Philly.
VOSBURGH, ROBERT VINCENT-Age 20. The
prodigy of Mrs. Elsie Vosburgh of 42 Rutherglen Ave.,
Providence, R. I., "Rovo" sacrificed his job with the
General Electric Co. to enlist in the Navy at Provi-
dence Jan. 27, 1943, and took his basic punishment
with Co. 968, Newport. He aspires to get flight orders
if possible. Second choice, ignition work.
XVAGNER, CLARENCE-Age 18. "Yogie', gave
up the peaceful life of a farmer to enlist in the Navy
at New Brunswick, N. J., Dec. 31, 1942, and went
through the mill with Co. 117, Sampson. He likes
aviation, and hopes to continue in this field after
the war. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Wlagner of Route 2, Englishtown, N.
WARIJ, JOSEPH A.-Age 18. "Red" formerly lived
with his 1J2t1'CHtS, Mr. and Mrs. James Wlard, at
91 Grand Ave., Ridgefield Park, N. Previously a
life guard and swimming instructor, he chucked this
to join up at N. Y. C. Dec. 31, 1942, and received his
initial instruction with Co. 536, Sampson. He would
like to go to gunnery school.
VVEAGE, FRANK-Age 18. "P. B." is the bright
eyed child of Mrs. C. Wleage of 314 Ridge Road,
Lyndhurst, N. J. He signed up at N. Y. C. Dec. 22,
1942, and took his primary training with Co. 453,
Newport. As a civilian, he worked for the Federal
Telephone Sc Radio Corp. His one and only ambi-
tion is to become an aerial gunner on a PB2Y and
whip Nips.
XVEISBECKER, BURTON F.-Age 18. Co. 536,
Sampson, trained 'fPeck,' in the quaint ways of the
Navy. Before signing on the dotted line at N. Y. C.
Dec. 26, 1942, he was a truck driver for a market.
The son of Mr. P. H. Mleisbecker and Mrs. F. E.
Meden, he formerly resided at 103 Duer St., No.
Plainfield, N. He aspires to be a gunner.
XVESTERLUND, STIG ERICK-Age 18. "1fVesty"
hankers to see some action. He entered the Navy
at Hanhattan, N. Y., Dec. 31, 1942, and underwent
indoctrination with Co. 117, Sampson, N. Y. He
formerly made his home with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Wlesterlund, at 4207 8 Ave., Brooklyn,
N. Y. He has a mania for taking pictures of things.
NVHEELER, ROBERT - Age 20. "Spoi1er"
was a fireman with the New York Central Railroad in
the good old days. He was sworn in at Boston
Jan. 20, 1943, and initiated with Co. 1027, Newport.
The offspring of Mr. and Mrs. John XfVheeler of 81
Central Ave., Medford, Mass., he hopes to get a
rate, then get out with the Fleet and see action.
