Eberhart Ave., Chicago, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Merschat. He attended Chi- cago Teachers' College and Lewis and Armour Insti- tute. Mr. Merschat enlisted at Chicago, Ill., on Novem- ber 23, 1942, where he was previously with the Chicago Board of Education. PARKER, CLYDE E., CSp. -Chief Parker has a B.S. degree from East Texas State Teachers College. He is a specialist in trouble shooting. E QUINN, LAYVRENCE JOSEPH, ACMM - Mr. Quinn has risen to the rate of ACMM from the posi- tion of soda jerk when he joined the Navy in january, 1934. An ex-member of Co. 22, Norfolk, Va., where he went through boot camp, his permanent address is 41 Wfestover St., Boston. RESPASS, JOHN T., ACMM-He is a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and his home address there is 1508 So. Stanley St. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Respass of Philadelphia. S. degree at Bradley Polytech Institute, Peoria, Ill. His voca- tional experience includes work on airplane engines, mechanical drawing and automobile mechanics. He teaches the principles of propellers. STEMPSKI, HENRY JOHN., ACMM-"Ski" is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Stempski of 1827 So. 19 St., lvlilwaukee, VVis., his home town. He enlisted there Feb. ll, 1936, and boot camped with Co. 4 at the Lakes. His chief hobbies are flying and reading the classics. fNot in picture., YVARNER, B., CSp. QTj4Mr. Wfarner came to N. A. T. T. C. from the Navy's teachers' school at Chicago to serve as an instructor on accessories. He took the LL.B. degree from Kent College of Law, Chicago, Ill. XVHIPPS, LAREN E., CSp. QTQ 4His job is teach- ing aircraft engine and engine familiarization. With a B. S. degree from Kansas State College he has taught vocational subjects in high school and has worked as a commercial instructor in "Pre-Gliders." ZIMMERMAN, P. P., CSp. QTQ -After the war his address will be Aurora, Minn. He attended Stout Institute of Menominie, Wis., and received a B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1931 with a major in Industrial Education. He taught at Janes- ville, Minn., for seven years before enlisting in the Navy.

Assistant Officer-in- Charge, Airplane Phase - From Davenport, Iowa, Lieutenant Beckman joined the Navy in October, 1942, at Jacksonville, Fla. A graduate of Iowa State College, B.S. degree, he worked as a vocational educa- tion supervisor in civilian life. He is a sports fan. CONNELL, R. E., ACMM-Chief Connell has twenty-one years of Naval service as a background. He taught all A to N subjects at Norfolk for two years. He is a final assembly instructor. EATON, ROBERT C., Mach., U.S.N.-He has had twenty-six years of service in the Navy, having en- listed in May, 1917, at El Paso, Texas. The son of Mrs. Maud B. Eaton, his permanent address is 3972 Hamilton St., San Diego, Calif. His hobby is guns. FISHER, G. YV., CSp. QTQ -A graduate of West Virginia Tech with a B. S. degree, 1938, he was trained at N. T. T. C., Chicago, before coming to Memphis where he instructs A to N students in airplane structure. JOHNSON, R. L., ACMM -He has been in the Navy six years and formerly taught in AMM School at Norfolk. Chief Johnson instructs students in air- plane instruments. HOSTETLER, AI. C., CSp. QTQ - Prior to his enlistment he had spent thirteen years in the teaching and coaching profession. In 1940 he received the M. A. degree from Colorado State College. Airplane structure is his specialty. HUFFCUT, HAROLD XV., CSp. CTQ-"Huffy" is from Andover, N. Y., and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank G. Huffcut. After enlisting at Chicago in No- vember, 1942, he trained at 87 and.Anthony there. He attended State Normal and Alfred University in New York. OTSTOT, W. J., CSp. QTQ -He instructs AMM students in the principle of airplane controls. After taking his B. S. degree in 1935 he was employed as an aeronautical draftsman and sheet metal man. ROE, G. E., CSp. QTQ -Chief Roe is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, and had three years experience in woodworking. His Navy training in- cluded principles of teaching at AMM School in Chi- cago. He is final assembly instructor. RINEHART, H. W., ACMM-Age 51. He en- listed in the Navy August 7, 1910, and has had a total of nearly thirty-three years service. His official title is Leading Chief of Airplane Phase. He taught at the Norfolk AMM School before taking over his present duties.

His principal diversions are amateur radio and photography. BECKEL, R. W., ACMM QAAQ - He was born in 1918 and is a graduate of the old AMM School at Norfolk, Va. It is said that he is the only man at N. A. T. T. C. who can successfully interpret code engraved on a lead pencil as a gouge. FLOYD, IV., ACMM-Chief Floyd comes from Kerrville, Tenn., the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Floyd, and he enlisted at Little Rock, Ark., March 15, 1935, later training at San Diego. A farmer in civilian life, he aspires to retire at twenty. GOSSETT, ORIEN P., Mach., U.S.N.JlPop" is the son of Mrs. Nancy E. Gossett and his home ad- dress is Central City, Ky. He joined the Navy during World lllar I, july 11, 1917, at Memphis, Tenn., and trained at Portsmouth, Va. He is a former BM lfc. GREENE, YV. C., ACMM-The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lemander Greene, he is a native of Lexington, Ala., and he was employed as a lineman beforeen- listing at Birmingham Nov. 12, 1936. He took boot training at Norfolk with Co. 61. He hopes to get twenty years service. LAVORATO, A. F., ACMM QAAQ -Chief "Blackie" enlisted in the Navy in 1935. He was con- nected with operations at Norfolk for a period of eighteen months. His job is as engineering chief of operations phase. MANSFIEJ , W. A., Mach. QTQ, U. S. N.- He was born in 1 and enlisted in 1932. Mr. Mansfield intends to m - efthe Navy his career and advance as far as possible? I-Ie is engineering officer of operations. 5 PARVINO, 'L. M., ACMM -A native of Jeffer- son, Texas, Chief Parvino joined the Navy in 1930 at Shreveport, La., and boot camped at San Diego with Co. A-14. He is a football fan by hobby and he aspires to complete 20 years service. He yearns to get with an operating squadron. RUSH, C. LT., Materiel Officer - From 1029 Elkton St., Pittsburgh, Pa., he was formerly connected with Hamilton Standard Propellors. He was com- missioned at New York City in August, 1942, having previously served four years as an enlisted man. ' SCHXVEIZER, ALVIN C., ENSIGN, Materiel Coordinator - Before receiving his commission in June, 1942, Ensign Schweizer was employed by Ameri- can Airlines.
