We need someone to carry us through, 7 9 5 wal M 1 This year, the students of Nauvoo-Colusa High School have chosen a very special lady to whom they dedicate the 1977 VIKING. After graduating from Carthage High School, Mrs. Kathleen Wolfe attended college at Marycrest College, Carthage College, and completed her studies at the University of Illinois. Mrs. Wolfe has taken graduate courses at Western in Macomb. She now lives in Carthage with her husband and their family. In the fall of 1968, Mrs. Wolfe started teaching both the grade school and high school students of Nauvoo-Colusa. Since then she has come away from the grade school and now teaches junior high and high school at NCHS . Being a woman of quality and high standards has given her the respect due to her by us students. It is with this respect, and also much gratitude and love, that we dedicate the 1977 yearbook to Mrs. Kathleen Wolfe. - Mary Salrin - ng ,,.:, 1 zz. ,A ' ' 7 v , - .. JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM "1977" "THIS ONE'S FOR YOU" The Junior class presented Prom on May 14, 1977 at the Keokuk Country Club. They appropriately entitled it "This One's For You," a song by Barry Manilow. All the hard work put into it by the Junior class was greatly appreciated by the Senior Class. Our Japanese foreign exchange student, Noriko Yoshida, was voted queen, and Benny Nauman was voted King by the two classes. It was enjoyed by allg not only because of the beauty of the Prom but the sentimentality involved as the Juniors gave one last great memory of NCHS to the seniors. So, thanks juniors, for the memories! git Lf. Queen, Nauman J Uh .Qi u if Noriko Yoshida, King Benny S Z ww B.. V V, 1 ' iili2'T' f P' xg 5 9 Xxx Prom 77 4 'fi X Q' f ' X L , . After the Processional and the Invocation Wendy Hull sang "Memories." Mary Salrin and Joe Ourth p were then presented as Salutatorian and Valedictorian, respectively, of the Class of '77, and each gave a short talk. Following this, Noriko Yoshida gave the Foreign Exchange Student Address. "You've Got a Friend" was then sung by Kurt Priebe, Karen Bollin, and Mary Salrin. HULL'S STUDIO 625 Franklin Street Keokuk, Iowa Phone: 319-524-6281 Portraits, School, Weddings, and Commercial DON'T QUIT When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns. And many a fellow turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering mang Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the Golden Crown. Success is failure turned inside out. The silver tint of the clouds of doubt. And you never can tell how close you are . lt may be near, when it seems so far. So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit. It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit. - Kim Ferguson - 9 Nothing but THE END Q,,+.,.S f4 X, ffwa I X 5 N W , , xx Autographs Taylor Publishing Company Insako W X 5 'el W4 ', K If b 9 A i A I 1 W' A Q L , i figvl. it g F 1, .
