F DEDICATION 'N-I The Yearbook Staff dedicates the 1980 FUTURA Carolyn Bair VVhat we are looking for is not someone who will cut through our dilemmas but try to understand us. Not someone who will impose her will upon us but someone who will help us to use our own will. Someone who instead of dictating to us what we must do will listen to us with respect. Not someone who reduces everything to an academic argument but someone who will understand our personal motives, our feelings, and even our weaknesses and our mistakes. Someone who will give us confidence in ourselves because she has unshakeable confidence in us, who will take an inter- est in our struggles without prejudging their outcome, and a person who will not allow herself to be discouraged if we take a different road from the one she would have chosen. Paul Tournier We feel we have found this person in you. bi fi ff", Q L --. 4 M9 , , EI Za , ' 'Vai gk , if '51, .Q 7 gy fz44hi:,A ,, gap fi , """'- - W, M. M-,,, 1 m :J A+ S 7' . S.U.P.P.O.R.T. is a group of stu- dents seeking leadership skills and wanting to be effective lis- teners and caring persons towards their peers. They want to be able to direct them, by building a solid trust with them, to further resources which may be able to help them deal with a problem or question. This year it has involved itself with interviewing referral agen- cies, helping out at the Blood Drives and working with Pro- spective Students. They shared "New Games," the fun-filled non-competitive games, with the prospects and the National Student body. Currently S.U.P- .P.O.R.T. is working with the newly developed Kiwanis Cir- cle K Club. This newly devel- oped club will work with pro- moting leadership, character, scholarship and service. The two clubs are very much rela- ted in that they both share the common elements of caring, leadership and service. "S.U.P.P.O.R.T. members encourage the involvement of more interested persons and are interested in any attitudes, ideas and feelings that they may have to offer," stated Sandy Schwebke, freshman. You have withstood the long, tiring hours of studying and the discipline of term papers and projects. You have persisted throughout these difficult years because you knew the value of an education. You have triumphed. We on the faculty and in the administration salute each one of you, whether you came here to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies, whether you came after rais- ing a family to complete your degree, whether you plan to use your new knowledge in a classroom or in another setting. We thank you for the opportunitytto sh-are in your personal and educational growth. You have made at commitment and have not wavered from it, and that may be one ofthe most significai t lessons you have learned here. l send you forth from National College now with this challenge: Let the degree you tectived today mark a new beginning of your education. Let the commitment you made here serve as a model for other arduous tasks you may undertake. Help lead others to the path by which they will discover life's richness.
