S. Floyd. Coach., FIRST TEAM The Scrappers opened the season with the Razorbacks in Texarkana. There were six boys playing their first ball game for us and they were a little confused by the letter perfect T-formation that the Razorbacks employed. Although we lost by a 39 to 0 score our boys played some good ball and were learning while losing. We lost the services of "Rooster" Sullivan who suffered an at- tack of appendicitis. The game with the Horatio Lions proved an easy one as we walked off with a 53 to 7 score. The most beautiful play of the game, a 55-yard touchdown jaunt by Bohannon, was nullified by an offside penalty. The- game with the Go-Devils from Gurdon proved to be the usual rough and tumble affair. We scored 25 points in the first half and were lucky to get away without the loss of life. Castleberry got a broken nose from a perfectly placed fist and jimmy Tollett got cut over the left eye. Our annual game with Prescott proved to be a good ball game. Although the Wolves were howling they couldn't hold the Scrappers. 25 to 0. The big game with the Bobcats was a thriller although we lost l2 to 0. We also lost the service of our giant tackle, "Tiny" Thornton. Our boys fought Magnolia's giant forwards to a standstill and with a little luck on catching passes we could have upset them, Magnolia 13 to 7. The first game with Dierks was the most exciting game ever played on the Scrapper Field. The Outlaws scored early in the second quarter but missed the extra point. The six points looked bigger and bigger as the last half sped by. About three minutes before the game was over, the Scrappers pulled the play that Coach Bradley had worked up just for the Outlaws. His own version of the spread formation. -..awmihk A 1 Line-left to right: Billy Trihble. jesse Riles. Larry Mcfllanahan, Roland Copeland. Gwen- dell Nunn. Earnest Arnold. Manager: Bobby Harwell. Manager. SECOND TEAM The first play, Simpson, Outlaw tackle, broke through and threw Bohan- non for a five yard loss on an attempted sweep. The next play, from the same formation, started the same but instead of Bohannon having the ball on a sweep, jones had it through the middle down to Dierks' 2 yard line. lt was no trouble for jones from there and the Scrappers tied it up. A sweep spot pass from Bohannon to Honeycutt put us out front to stay. To settle the matter completely, a minute later McClure, rushing McAllister hard, took in his attempted pass and scooted 35 yards to ice the game 13 to 6. The next game with the Leopards was a good ball game but the Scrappers were too good for the Sevier boys. 27 to 0. The Hornets came up here with their stingers out and really expected to win the game. The weatherman helped all he could by having the game played in a downpour. After a scoreless first half the Scrappers sewed it up in the last, 2l to 0. The Thanksgiving game with Dierks was another thriller. The Outlaws started fast and moved trom past mid-field to inside the I0 before losing the ball. On an attempted kick out, our punt was blocked and rolled out of the end zone for an automatic safety and 2 points. This looked mighty big going into the last five minutes of the game. The Scrappers held on Dierks 40 yard line and as the Outlaws attempted to punt out, jones broke through and blocked the kick, and we recovered on the Outlaw 5. jones powered the middle for 5 and we had another game wrapped up, 7 to 2. n... .. ...mn EM, GIRLS' BASKETBALL 1.1-sim' lhzlmllvy LIUZHII filfurrlm - I"m':r'rn'1lA- Inu Basin, llzlplzlin Hrlty -lo 'I'cctc-1'.
