C. C. COWIN, Principal ff' 'Meuaqe just suppose that we make the future homes of our present students the setting for our thought this year. On some winter evening as we sit around the fireplace or in the warmth of our homes and take down The Sage from our bookshelves, we shall think of our school and of our friends. Pictures remind us of our athletic teams, our Student Body officers, our musical organizations, our clubs, our social gatherings, our assemblies, our school work, and many other activities. The years will have strengthened our pleasure and appreciation for the sincere and wholesome friendship developed during our high school attendance. These have been happy days! Sincerely, C. C. COWIN, Principal

J. E. WALSH, Suju'rinlc'ndent '70 Me Q of i9-90: 0 ! The Nampa School District congratulates you on your successful termination of the prescribed courses of study as required for graduation from the public schools. The taxpayers and patrons of this community and of the State of Idaho have made a real financial investment in you. They have made this investment cheer- fully and willingly. They know that you will shortly assume the responsibilities of adult citizenship. The Class of 1940 before long will have to take its place in the civic, social, and economic pattern of the body politic. This class will be called upon to help maintain the American dream of democracy, freedom, and justice. For the reasons stated above, the citizens have paid the expenses for your public school education in the sincere hope that you will be qualified to preserve the heritage of our American civilization. They realize that a high school diploma is not the end but the commencement. You are only freshmen in the University of Life and the really difficult lessons are yet to come. Some of the lessons will seem almost insurmountable, and of hard knocks there will be plenty. Your high school experience has simply been a preliminary training, very inadequate in many respects, but better, we hope, than no training at all. In closing, permit me on the behalf of the Trustees of Independent School District No. 37 and the teaching staif of the Nampa Public Schools to wish you success and good luck throughout your entire life. Goodbye. JOHN E. WALSH, Superintendent
