The 1933 Myndersian, which represented the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of Mynderse Academy, was the first fo our year books to win First Honor Rating in the National Scholastic Press Contest, although each annual en- tered in the contests has won Second Honor Rating. We have chosen The Sea- sons as our theme for the 1934 Myndersian with which we are trying to reach a higher goal than other classes. ln as much as our activities fall into seasonal divisions, we offer this year a book that we think bids fair to be the most original of any edited at Mynderse. The staff for our book this year is headed by Helen Moore as editor-in-chief, with Luella Allen, Emily Andrews, Florence Finn, Florence Cooper, Teresa Mar- tino, Virginia Lay, Anita Palumbo and Hope Stevenson as assistants. Our busi- ness manager is George Sullivan assisted by Frederick Clark, Valerie Clark, Donald Knox, Donald Kuney, Ethel Bookman, Arlene Tavener, Paul Bracht, George Semmens, loseph Sinicropi, Philip Wycker, Genevieve Dornbrowski, Margaret Doran, Helene Millela, Stuart Miller, Helen McCarthy, and Warren Mills, typists are lane Nelson, lone Giannotti, and Sarah Coleman. The art editor is Robert Hamilton. Staff members were chosen for their ability in English, art, and business. The success of our Myndersian we owe to Miss G'Brien, publication adviser, under whose guidance we have worked with happiness and inspiration. Q0 Miss O'Brien and Stall Heads

This game gave the team the desired amount of confidence with which to continue the year. The girls played their best defensive game of the season against Waterloo and greatly increased their confidence as a result of beating their traditional rivals 16-3. The Waterloo team was held to one field basket the entire game. Defeat by a strong Penn Yan team in both games was something hard to swallow, but the girls took their defeat with cheerfulness. The encounter with Penn Yan on our court was a heartbreaker to lose. Myn- derse led during the entire game, but a basket in the last seconds gave a victory to the invaders. The lthaca game at lthaca was another Htough break g again Mynderse led, but a last quarter rally defeated them by three points. The players who will be greatly missed through graduation are Emily Andrews, Hope Stevenson, lone Gionnatti and Mildred Mitchell, all veterans of two or more years. Dolores Lynch, Margaret Lewis, Barbara Boswell, and Elizabeth Doran will be back to play again for Blue and White. Around these four stars will be built next year's team. The requirement for admission into the club is satisfactory participation in some dramatic effort of the school curriculum, such as the junior play, the senior play, or operetta, or some public speaking work, such as the Prize Speaking Contest held in lune. The club has grown since its organization until now it has thirty-five members. At the first meeting of the year Miss George took up instruction in stage make-up. Later after the initiation of aspirants who had participated in the senior play, The Rivals, the activities of the Wig and Rouge really commenced. A float, decorated by various club members, represented the society in the local N.R.A. parade. The theme of the float was based on the two characters, Pierrot and Pierrette, who were the French adaptation of The Italian Harlinguinadef' the foundation for dramatic art in the occiclental countries. During the second semester the members worked on a project which was com- pleted in March. The exhibit included a miniature stage setting with complete lighting equipment, curtains, stage setting and puppets, which will be on display in the library. Miss George also took up a thorough study of the one-act play. Before the Wig and Rouge banquet in Tune at Lakeside, Owasco, the club's last activity for the semester, the musical comedy, An Old Spanish Custom, sponsored jointly by the Boys' and Girls' Glee Clubs and the Wig and Rouge, and Prize Speaking were added to the list of the club's achievements for this school year. Wig and Rouge officers for 1933-1934 are Caroline Chalker, president, Carl Irland, secretaryg Anthony Mastroleo, treasurer, and Miss Iean George, adviser. zo ,
