BACK ROW: Snyder, Davis, O'Gradv, Brower, Van Etten, Ortino S OND ROW Dclrrow, Loomis, Peclr, Lewis, Compitello, Adviser, Strong, Cooper, Campbell, Trulan LOWER ROW Vogel, Doran, Sinicropf, Palumbo, Bracht, Martino MYNDERSE MICROPHONE The Microphone has taken rapid strides in the seven years since the first edition went to press until it is now recognized as an essential feature of Mynderse life. Miss Compitello, faculty adviser of the Microphone, holds a meeting of the entire staff every Thursday during the special activity period which the staff members utilize for work on the paper. The members are always encouraged to bring in ideas and original material, and are shifted constantly from one section to another in an effort to determine which positions they fit best. This method is proving very successfulg for already, talent, which was hitherto un- suspected, has been unearthed. In the spring, the would-be staff member's fancy turns to thoughts of the Mi- crophone's annual competitive examination, held to select new staff members, who must not only obtain a reasonably high mark in the examination but must have and maintain a scholastic average of at least eighty-five per cent. English work, especially, is emphasized. At present the staff numbers twenty. Anita Palumbo, the editor-in-chief, is assisted by Paul Bracht, Robert Brower, Florence Campbell, Florence Cooper, Richard Davis, Marian Dickow, Elizabeth Doran, Margaret Lewis, Betty Loomis, Teresa Martino, Francis O'Grady, Leo Ortino, Betty Peck, loseph Sinicropi, fames Snyder, Virginia Strong, Alyce Trulan, Roy Van Etten, Philip Vogel. On February 12 of this year, the Mike as it is familiarly called, held a bene- fit show, the Searchlight Minstrels, in which not only staff members but also talented outsiders participated. This was both a financial and theatrical success. The staff expects to end its activities for the year with the annual dinner at Owasco. 0 14
