From that time on, Mtiskies started peeping from the covers and groaning as they were called or the alarm clock rang. The average time for this ritual was seven-fifteen. Some lucky ones managed to remain lazy until eight-fifteen. The variety of rising times points out the difference in time it took Musky guys and gals to get ready for school. Boys were ready in a mere five minutes, but girls-it took at least live minutes to put on lipstick. Then there was the usual prohlem with the hair. 00000000000 0000000000000000000000Em00O00000000000000O00000000000000000000000000000C f f Some Earbg Some Late DOOOOO0 00O0000 1r00000" 00000000000-00000000 OO 00000OO0O00v' 00" mv 5935 5 K I I 4 as After Muskies aroused themselves, the task of eating breakfast presented itself. For some it was no task at all, because they refrained from eating anything. For others it was a job. Two eggs. a cup of coffee, two slices of toast, and three pancakes supplied morning energy for one boy. Most Muskies, however, settled for cereal. toast, and milk. One breakfast consisted of a tuna fish sandwich and a coke: another. of an egg sandwich and milk. Ambitious. wide-awake Mus- kies did chores and housework before leaving for their classes: but others worked to keep awake. 1000 OOOD0OOOO00O000000OOO00C'OOOO0000-f:0000O000 ., OOOO00CvO000O00000O0OO00C'000000Cr00 000000 .E if V ' Q Y uf. 42" 5 ,gf Q ,ff '-ff 'H 1 V ai iris 4 f QQ 1 S 2.9: F . , i t 15 L H rin 5,4 W, , Y' 52 411 ,lb :"JZ" . 4 J", f 7,1 li' I. ,r 'li 6' 47455. 3, ,, 3 I . f f, . Going to school meant a number of ways of transportation, plus a variety of distances to be covered. Three-fourths of the Nlusky students reached M. H. S. by car or bus. The other one fourth walked. Distances ranged from just across the street to twenty miles away. Every day Muskies saw a red station wagon bring nine students from the Lutheran Homes. This station wagon was a gift from friends of the Homes. Once in school, Nluskies separated to a variety of rooms arranged on three floors. Familiar rooms were the oflice, library, and cafeteria. The oflice OO00000000000000000000 00000000000 OO OO00000000000000000000000000000 000000001 f f Begzrz Lmmzhg needs no explanation, nor does the library, but the cafeteria had two uses. In the morning before classes, many Muskies studied there. Students who wished to be practical went to such rooms as the homemaking and woodworking rooms and farm shops. Printing was another practical course offered for the Hrst time since 1943. The boys printed pamphlets, pads for the office, pro- grams, and schedules. Those who wished to stress the artistic were especially fond of the chorus and band rooms, stage, and the art room. Young Einsteins frequented the science rooms. x i QQZSSJDD I I V C Q 'L P I 5 K 9 7 11 if 5 I Q. 1 Q ,f , we V lg-M. A 'f V ' mg A :I 9 ,5 Wfti 5' 'win .ui 9, . WW ? ' 5 ..W-...,.. . Muskies poured from eight of the M.H.S. doors when the last bell rang dismissing school. Many Muskies had jobs. An even greater num- ber took themselves downtown or home. Anyone downtown alter school hours could see Musk- ies strolling along window shopping or sipping cokes in one of their favorite spots. Once home, Muskies lapsed into many stages of activity. Some had clothes to repair or shoes to shine: others did their stint at the washing machine or helped prepare the evening meal. Dates and just friends getting together occupied the end of many a Musky day. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO00000000000OOOOOOOOOOUOOOOOOO0OOOOOOOOOOOOGOOOOGOOOO00000000000OOOOOOOC f f To Work Play 0000001 Most Muskies stayed home three nights a week. Others found too much doing and were seldom home. Shows always provided amusement. Friday nights meant Fun Nites at the Y.W.C.A. Football and basketball games gave Musky sports fans entertainment. During the out-of-town encounters, FM radios were handy. Any evening, as well as after Fun Nites and games, soda fountains were popular meeting places. Bowling was an attraction to high schoolers. Muskv lanes spent evenings baby sitting. Still others spent hours at play practices, and the ALIRORAN staff worked nights on the yearbook for their entertainment. 0G 0000000012 00 000W .1 V 9 1 K 1.
