N. F. L, Means Speech Achievement
Being a member ot N. E. L., National Forensic League, is synonymous with being
an ambitious, hard Working student who devotes every spare second to the cause ot
some form ot speech. Students who wear that interesting little pin have a right to be
proud, tor it means that they have earned from 20 to 25 hard-to-get points.
Points are earned tor debate, extemp, radio speaking, original oratory, and de-
clam in interscholastic events or before community groups. M. H. S. is especially
proud ot David Stanley, as he ranks as one ot the highest in America tor N. E. L. points.
This club is distinct from all others in that its members are too busy carrying out its
functions to settle down for a meeting regularly. There are otticers, however, elected
at the beginning ot the year. This year Betty lo Anderson acted as chief gavel Wielder,
with Bob Highbarger maintaining order in her absence. Loren Goss was secretary.
