student health service The University Health Service, located in recently renovated facilities on the ground floor of Wells l-lall, ls an out-patient clinic serving the campus community. Last year, 10,577 patients were treated. Free services available include treatment for acute ill- nesses and emergency cases, medical work-ups, laboratory tests and health counseling. The addi- tional space gained during the renovation makes it more convenient for the personnel to provide these benefits. The newest addition to the com- plex is a series of screening booths each being a preliminary examination room. All walk-in patients are screened by a nurse and treated symptomatically under the direction of the physician. If more involved treatment is needed, the student is referred to the doctor. The staff, consisting of a full-time physician, three nurses, a receptionist and some part-time student workers, utilizes this system to provide treatment for the patients. photos by t. sharp
