To Help Meet The Demands Of Our Expanding School Mr. Gerald Line teaches the senior social studies classes. He is a graduate of the University of Minne- sota. His outside interests include sports. Mr. Lloyd Marengo, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, teaches physics. In his third year Mr. Line Mr. Marengo Ol' Murray, his outside ln- Mr. Mather terests include churchwork. Mr. John Mather, senior social studies teacher, heads the Social Studies Institute of African Affairs. He is a graduate -of the State University of lowa. New to Murray's faculty this year is Mr. Peter Merila, a typing teacher. He is a graduate of St. Cloud State College. He enjoys sports. Mrs. Mary Palm, iunior English teacher, is also new to the faculty. She is a graduate of Luther Mf- Mefilf' College. In her spare time she enjoys drama. Mrs- Palm An outdoor enthusiast, Mr. John Pearson likes to hunt, fish and camp. He teaches science and coaches intramurals, quad hockey and football. Jd'f'7'f Yi M. Ve' on Petersen, boys' gym instructor, is a University of Minnesota graduate. He coaches gym- nastics and track and enioys flying and traveling. Murray's pool director, Mr. Edward Porthan, is a graduate of Hamline University. His main interest is Mr. Pearson Sports' Mr, Petersen . ,ar Mr. Eugene Pose is the metal and wood shop in- structor. He is a graduate of the University of Min- nesota. Mr. Bernard Quinn, sci- ence and social studies teacher, attended St. Thomas College and Uni- versity of Minnesota. A family man, he spends his leisure time reading. Another of Murray's English teachers is Mrs. Dona Duffy. Before at- tending the University of Minnesota, she attended the University of North Mrs. Duffy Dakota. She enjoys sports. Mrs. Anne Fisker, a graduate of the University of Minnesota, instructs home economics. Her interests include music and vacationing at her summer cottage. Mrs. Patricia Fritsche, girls' gym teacher, advises the Girls' Athletic Association and cheerleaders. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska. New to our school is Mr. Cortland Frye, a graduate of Macalester College. He teaches Spanish and Eng- lish. His outside interests include fishing and hunting. Mr. Clarence Fulmek is another of Murray's mathe- matics teachers. A graduate of St. Thomas College, he -coaches golf and is a iunior class advisor. Miss Valborg Helseth teaches shorthand and typ- ing. She advises Business Cadettes. A familiar face to the music department is Mr. Alex Heron, Murray's band director. His interests also include sports and tape recording. As advisor to the Mur- curie and Pilot staffs, Mr. John Lape is head of the iournalism department. His main interest outside of school is his family. Miss Patricia Lightbourn is the girls' swimming in- structor. She is a graduate of the University of Minne- sota. The Graduating Seniors Have Many Thanks To Offer Mr. Robert Ritter, biol- ogy instructor, coaches football, baseball and B- squad basketball. He has interest in biological re- search. Mr. Charles Rogers, so- cial studies teacher, directs the Social Studies Club. ln his leisure time he hunts. l Mr. Ritter Mr. Rogers Mr. Rose Social studies teacher and basketball coach, Mr. George Rose, also heads the Student Council. ln his leisure time he enioys traveling. Mr. Reno Rossini, chemistry teacher, is also Mur- ray's football coach. He attended St. Mary's College and Creighton University. A member ot the music department, Miss Marjorie Rusch, plays in the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. She instructs both choirs and the octet. Mr. Rossini Miss Rusch One of our higher mathematics teachers is Miss Louise Smith. A graduate of the University of Min- nesota, she enioys playing bridge and traveling. Another one of our science teachers is Mrs. Lucile Smith. She is a graduate of the College of St. Catherine. Art instructor, Mr. Daniel Sorenson, is a graduate of Luther College. He coaches B-squad baseball and spends his leisure time painting. Miss Smith Mrs. Smith Miss Florence Vest, speech instructor, directs Mur- ray's dramatic works. A graduate of the University ot Minnesota, she advises the Dramatic Club. Miss Virginia Fertig, not pictured, teaches Ameri- can history and world history. She is a graduate of Hamline University. Miss Margarite Paschke is another of our math teachers. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and has interests in geology and travel. She is not pictured. Miss Vest Q-jffkl in ......
