Get That Man This looks as if a Mechanic Arts' ball carrier is due for a surprise when the two players converge. Dick Foster, num- ber 12 of Murray, is tackling, while Pete Aus is slowing down a determined Me- chanic Arts' ball carrier. Murray made several goal line thrusts, but Mechanics' defense held each time, depriving the Pilot gridmen of a win in the homecoming game. Quarterback Bill Engebretson is elud- ing a Mechanic Arts' tackle as he makes a nine-yard gain for a Hrst down. This game found Murray on the losing end of a l4f0 score. A powerful Me- chanics' defense kept the Pilots from scoring and from completing any passes. Sit And Wait touchdown. concerning the opposing players. by 7-O. team to victory. Thomas Anderson, Gary Alm, Paul Mie- sen, Donald Pautz, Richard Wiles 0 James Hughes, Roger Gammel, John Mantis, Richard Foster, James Jannett, David Erauenshuh, Stephen Sweetland, Thomas Skovholt 0 Donald Steinle, Phillip Hager, Roger Johnson, Peter Aus, Robert ainty, Gary Anderson, Michael Baukol, William Engebretson, John Vollmer, Asst. Coach Robert Ritter, Gridmen Exibit Defense The senior varsity football team started the season in line style with a hard-fought win over Humboldt 7-0. John Schoeller smashed through the opponents, line and recovered a fumble on Humboldt's 38-yard line. Pete Aus went for the winning touchdown. In another defensive game against Wilson, Dick Fos- ter was able to score a touchdown for the winning score of 7-0. In the next two games, Murray lost by identical scores, I4-0, to Mechanic Arts and City Champions, Harding. Against Washington and Johnson, Murray's offense began to roll with victories over Washington 20-O, and Johnson I2-0. Scores were by Pete Aus, Dick Foster, and a pass reception by Bob Budde. The last game of the season against Central was played in a blizzard. In spite of the hard-fought game by the Murray athletes, Central came out on top 13-0. Gary Oakins, who played tremendous football all season, was selected on the All-City football team and received honorable mention in the All-State selection. Ed Turi, John Schoeller, and Charles Rosencrans gn of the pilots makes U Hying grab for the pigskin' Elusive is the word for the football as Bob Grit'- t placed on the All-Cityis honorable mention team. Having the same idea is the Trainers' Number 41. l
