Accompanied by the stirring call of trum- pets, the thunder of the basses, and the pip- ing of the flutes, the Murray Band marched splendidly through the season attired in trim new uniforms. All through the fall, teachers plaintively complained of the din of the band trudging back and forth in front of the building, and students glanced frequently out of the windows. These glances at best were hardly reassuring. The marchers seemed to be wandering about looking completely lost. No one ever quite figured out how, on the night of the game, that group of cold and bewildered practicers was transformed into a straight-ranked, compact marching band able to execute complicated manoeuvers. Through every pep assembly and game this gallant outfit proudly supported our cham- pionship team.
