A course in journalism helps the student to express himself clearly and forcefully and also to encourage interest in contem- porary happenings in the nation and world. Mechanical Drawing First and second year mechanical draw- ing students produce detailed plates and scale drawings of machines and parts of machines. Third year students are con- cerned chiefly with architectural drawings and designs.

Ceram- ics, oil paints, copper enameling and water colors are just a few of the many mediums used in creating in the art classes at lVlurrah. Home Economics Sewing, cooking, health, and nu- trition are just a few branches of study in home economics. Under the skill- ful guidance of Mrs. Starling, girls learn the techniques of managing a home. This knowledge of domestic art is gained through supervised train- ing. The building of a usable skill in typewriting is the primary aim of this course. Skill is not merely the ability to type so many words a minute, but the ability to type material at an ap- propriate rate and with acceptable ac- curacy. The student is thus challenged to learn as a whole being and not as a one-sided specialist. Speech Students lie-ten to interpretive reading. Students toil over a tive-mln ute speed drill. Joel W.
