Row 2-F. Wampler, K. Rowell, G. Gaca, N. Bracco.
Ifollowing a l95I unbeaten season in regu-
larly scheduled games, the Indians of I952
were given little chance to equal the previous
year's record. Eight replacements had to be
found for the positions vacated by graduating
seniors.
When the first game arrived, Munhall was
host to a powerful Brownsville eleven. After
the smoke had cleared, Munhall had met and
won its first test-I2 to 9, with Bracco scoring
twice, once from the nine and once from
the I2.
The second game found Munhall pitted
against a determined 'I'aylor-Allderdice team.
Bracco scored first on a two yard smash, and
later on a danling punt return. Blazer con-
verted twice to make it l-I to 7. Munhall.
Munhall played its third game at Scott
where they defeated the Purple Raiders I2
lo 7. Gaca scored first on a one yard plunge,
while Iiracco scored the final tally on a 59
yard jaunt.
Returning home with a three game win-
ning streak, the Indians were host to the Brad-
dock Tigers. The Indians ran roughshod over
the Tigers blanking them 23 to 0. l'Vampler
scored twice, Iiracco tallied once, and Blazer
converted three times which, combined with
a safety, gave Munhall its margin.
105
ln their lifth game, Munhall, in an under'
dog role, rose to its full height by defeating
the Clairton Bears to I-I. Caca's passes.
one to Wlhite and one to Zanos, counted for
two scores, while IVampler tallied twice,
Bracco once, and Blazer connected five out of
five to account for the scoring.
Bidding for their sixth straight victory the
lXlunhalI eleven suffered its initial loss at the
hands of Turtle CreekM2l to I9. Gaca passed
for two touchdowns to Mel I'Vhite and tallied
once from the I yard stripe to account for the
Indians scoring.
In the final home game the Indians de-
feated Penn 20 to I3 on touchdowns by
NVampler, Zanos, and Bracco and conversions
by Blazer.
In the game that eventually proved to
clinch the Steel Valley Title for the Indians.
Munhall defeated the highly favored Du-
quesne "Dukes," I9 to 7. XVampIer and Gaca
each tallied once and a Gaca to Bracco pass
accounted for Munhall scoring.
In the final game of the year the Indians
were defeated by troublesome Har-Brack in
a bitterly contested game l-I to 7.
This brought to a close the '52 season for
the Munhall High Indians with an amazing
record of 7 wins, 2 losses and the Steel Valley
Conference Championship tucked away.
