MUNHALL, PENNSYLVANIA At last we're here! lt's been a long, difficult trail, but we made it. Four years ago, the "Gold Country" seemed at the end of an intermin- able road, but with the aid of kind understanding, wise advice, and a firm, encouraging word when needed, we have gained something which can never be taken from us-our education. The dances and arties we have had seasoned our school da s with P gay times never to be forgotten. All the work in decorating and plan- ning surely was worth the genuine fun that was had. No other parties will be so well remembered as those in which we all took part. lt is with these past years in mind that we have chosen the " '49ers', theme for this, our annual. 9 L., ,Q f A 3. Under the friendly leadership of Miss Elsie Groat, the sponsor of the annual, the organization work of these three students progressed smoothly. Many hours of work were spent in the planning, organizing, and building of our annual, and to these four people, we, the members of the class, give a sincere vote of thanks. After going through a season in the spring ol' IEJ48 to a deadlock with Mc'Ket-sport for the championship of our section, our boys were defeated by the score of 5-0. This was a tough one to lose, but this year's tealn appears to be one to give us another good season. 68 First row. l. to r.-M. Badolato, B. Mortimer, B. Sokolovic, T. Staskas, K. Proud, E. I MISS HOWVAT Presenting our sponsor, our teacher, our librziriun, our friend-Miss Howat. To her we owe much of our success and happiness while in high school. Freely, she gave us her time, patience, wisdom, guidance, pep, and even her car. She worked with us. She encouraged us as Freshmen, urged us as Sophomores, guided us as Juniors, and triumphed with us as Seniors. Recollec- tion of the high school days of the '49ers will always be freighted with golden memories of the many happy times spent in the companionship of our sponsor and friend-Miss Howat. 76 CLASS OFFICERS NI. 0 I null' llzmu' llu' IQIII nl I1Il8..Xu um Im.IIII Svlliolx?
