Flower: Red Rose Colors: Blue Q White ICF CL-XSS N ,SE SENIOR CLASS POEM Where have I been for ten long years? It's now '53 and we see no tears. Here are the seniors of '43 Gathered together for us to see. Here is our president, handsome James Moore, He still has the sweethearts by the scoreg He is happy and proud as you can see-- He's the most beautiful man of '55. Ann Simonton, it was until three years ago, Is now Mrs. Pickard she wants you to know. She quit all her courting, dating, and things, Just in order to wear those two little rings. Here's the former Miss Polly Doyle Who used to--in the bank--would toil. we thought she'd work there all her life, But now she's become the banker's wife. Admiral Massey, I do believe, Home from Toyko on permanent leaveg Herbert's new head of the Naval bosses, Having earned ten distinguished service crosses Carol Lloyd, the one whom we hold so dear, I'll tell you just why she isn't here: She's working hard on our tax rates-- She's president of the United States. J. WL DeLashmit is farming still, Planting watermelons on a hill, He plants corn and also cotton, To work it right, it keeps him trottin'. For our ticket sales girl, Helen Baddour, A rapid promotion was almost sureg She's now on Broadway in all the best plays, Because of her beauty and alluring ways. SENIOR CLASS POEM --- Continued lhlter Everton with his curly hair Has attracted all the women fairg And since nothing special in them could he see, A jolly old bachelor he turned out to be. Here is news of Miss Ann Lee Ross, In the Powder Plant now she's production bossg She works quite hard all the day through Telling the people just what to do. Gwinn Bomar is our cowboy of the open skiesg He says he will live there until he dies. Of all the things in this beautiful west, Those beautiful girls are what he likes best. In a hospital is Kathryn Mills, All she does is dish out pillsg In the Mnnford Hospital she is a nurse, And she carries a pill bag instead.of a purse. Richard Cole with his ingenious mind Knows the sciences of every kind.l His synthetic rubber is now on the go, And no more does America have to ride slow. Here is ons, Miss Helen Ross, Who is now working for the Rod Crossg She teaches first-aid throughout the nation, Relieving the suffering all over creation. Gwendolyn Smith is a name quite fair That fits the girl with the blondish hairy She's raising cotton, potatoes, and corn, She's been a real farmerette since the day she was born A grand opera singer is Mary Glynn Hill, She sends through the audience quite a thrillg And when Mary Glyn is singing a song People could listen all the day long. SENIOR CLASS POEM --- Continued Here new we see Miss Sarah Scott, What she has done h s been quite a lot, She has really gotten around--- She is new secretary to the mayor of the town. Hasel Demery is now doing fine, She is working on the Greyhound Lineg She drives her bus, and when she makes her run Her husband greets her with, nsupper is done.' Sarah Wboten works in several towns, She's a traveling model selling evening gowns: And her business is getting lots bigger, Just because of her georgeous figure. Eddy Haddad new lives with his wife, Who will make him happy the rest of his lifeg He is now breaking mules from morning to night, His greatest desire is to do it just right. McCormiek's the one who invented the reaper, But Virginia's the one who is a model housekeeper, She duets the room and sweeps the hall, And out she goes on her neighbors to call. Lily Baddour, who is new teaching school, Has chewing gum as an iron-clad rule, If one's caught in the class without any gum, Back in there he will never more come. Waymon Baskin of the Giltedge race, Is writing to the paper in his brother's place: Hs gathers news both far and near For the 'Nail-Keg Philosophyu readers to hear. Boy! Just look at Miss Mildred Brown, She's the most talked-about woman in town, She's Hollywood's Ioveliest, most talented star, And out shines all other women by far. SENIOR CLASS POEM rr' Continued In the house upon the hill Lives none other than Freeman Stanfillg He owns a theatre: he's doing O. K., The one who sells tickets is Ruby Mai. The boys run after--but never catch her, She's that beauty expert, Miss Wanda Fletcher She never has time with the boys to slope, For now she's advertising Shux Toilet Soap. Wilford Pickard is now doing well, What he's doing I think I can tellg He is new preaching to large congregations And also on many radio stations. Shortie Fleming's chief delight Is coaching ball with all her mightg She is now teaching at Mnnfcrd College Displaying lots of her basketball knowledge. Velma D. Martin of Munford High School was smart as a whip--she knew every rule. She is driving now an amphibious jeep: In that bumpy thing she won't go to sleep. Dancing in a night club in New York City Is Marcella Simmons. Boy! It's a pity She wouldn't marry that handsome boy, 'Cause sho thought he wasn't the real McCoy. Dorris Parnell, who was our class poet, Is now an army doctor if you didn't know ity Before he could dream of himself he awoke from his sleeps So don't blame him if the meter is weak. nSon, get upn that's my tather's voice, Get up I must, there's no other choice. How real does all this actually seem Only to find out it is merely a dream. SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The Seniors are now very proud Although it's whispered, and not very loud, That many of our boys are soon to be Fighting in the Services for victory. Some of our girls will probably be WAACS, Giving the Japs some pretty hard cracks, Working by the side of our boys Whofve given up homes and many joys. we urge them on to victory In their fight for our Liberty. We'll do our part in every way By lending 10? of all our pay. we started as Freshmen with forty-one enrolled. It was a year of enjoyment, in which we learned the ways of a high school pupil. As Scphomores there were thrity-eight of us. Three had been lost along the way. In that year the Hallowen Carnival was a success, since we won the cake. Our banquet given for the Freshmen was also a success. As Juniors we enrolled with thirty-three pupils. we worked hard and looked forward to the year 1942, when we would take up the responsibilities of Seniors. our efforts put forth in the Halloween Carnival were greatly rewarded, when we succeeded in crowning Kathryn Barton as queen. We, the Seniors of 1942-43, have finally reached our goal. Thirty of us have come through with flying colors. Three members of our class are officers of the Junior P.T.A., namely, Herbert M ssey, Presidentg Wilford Pickard, Vice-Presidentg Eddie Haddad, Sec- retary and Treasurer. we are new looking forward to graduation and afterwards toward doing our part in bringing about victory in the war. One of the successes of the year was in crowning Willard Ballard king of the Halloween Carnival. Initiation week was a lot of fun for everyone. The banquet given them by the Sophomores was enjoyed very much. When they enrolled as Sophomores, two pupils were missing, leaving them only forty-one. Their efforts to crown Virginia Cullum as queen of the Halloween Carnival failed, but made them more de- termined to win the following year. As Juniors they are now thirty-three in number. They have worked hard and proved themselves capable ot taking over the duties of Seniors in 1943-44. -. 12 1:-li , 1' , fxifdaikxw , . They are now: Hazel White, president, Nellie Williamson, vice president, Helen Hanks, secretary-treasurerg J. WL Hig- gins, reporters Yolanda M e Smith, program chairman. For the first part of the year we helped in the library. Each of us had different duties every week. A party was given to entertain the Latin Class at the beginning of school. we later gave a Stunt Program for the purpose of raising money for our Roman Banquet. The Banquet was given in March, and the remaining money was given to the Red Cross. Wh hope that this year's Latin Class will have as much pleasure in cooperating together in the Caesar Club as we have had. PROPHECY Nineteen-hundred and forty-three! Here's the prophecy of the Caesar Club for you to see. Mildred Brown, our senior lass, Will be in a nursing class. In nineteen-hundred fifty-three A very good nurse she's likely to be. The smallest of our class was Hazel White, Who always tried to do things right. And now she is ss happy as can be For she has finally caught Pee-Wee. Of Sue Coleman there's much to say, For she is always happy and gay. But new she'e settled down in a two-room flat With the one of her choice and a dog and cat. Fi PROPH CY - Continued Carolyn Ellis, being one of the best, Was finally persuaded by Hillard to say yes. And now that she is a Navy wife She can settle down and enjoy life. Jean Glover, soy and small, Can many sweet memories recall. She has always been as sweet as can be And I'm sure Shelby will agree. Helen Hanks, our blond-headed girl Always kept the boys in a whirl.
