FOOTPRINTS OF THE YEAR
Centralites, where were we at 8:10 on Friday morning,

But for us seniors it was the final
Now, in June, we seniors of 1955 can look back over a
very successful year Under the guidance and leadership
of our class officers, senior council and sponsors, e
have participated in many activities Some of us have
received special honors and awards Although scholarships
and service awards are eagerly awaited, almost as much
interest is caused by the annual Senior Mock Election 3
Our successors to the middle section in the auditorium
are today's Juniors To them we seniors gladly transfer
our share of lockers, the front hall, seats in the library,
home work, outside reading reports, term paper worries, the
front steps, assignments, and the classroom activities that
become juniors are the sophomores, who feel quite at home now
The school year could not have been so successful

add interest and variety to the school year.5 Waiting to
administration, and the supervisors 9 With the able
assistance of the office staff, they have made this year
a fine one The ercellent qualities of our Central teachers
are represented by Mr Zetterberg, Mr Whittern, and Mr
Blackwood Those of us who have been in their classes
realize how fortunate we are to have known them because
all three are retiring at the end of this school year
Our Central faculty
receive our appreciation
for the knowledge they
have helped us to obtain
ard for their loyal sup
port and wise counsel
Those who were not with us
this year were r 'orrow
passed away before the end of school last year 3
Activities for Central studerts are always important
Some students assume additional duties during the school day
by volunteering for work in the library, dispensary, and
cafeteria The school offices also have tudent helpers 5
Social activities have a wide appeal Three of the most
important were the Open House held by each class We also
attended all school darcesCJ7 and the senior play Central
was represented at the Purdue Legislative As embly in
December 9 Early in the spring many of us saw tre junior
play O More than two hundred students participated in

Store Day.21 But the highlight of the spring was the Junior-
Senior Prem.22 The final week began wlth Field Day23 and
will end with Commencement.
As usual, sports brought state-wide attention to Central.
Backed by students and
townspeople, our teams won
many victories because of
their famous Bearcat spirit,
that will-to-w1n.2u'33' In
charge of the sports program
are the coaches, who help our
Bearcats to become champions 3 Needless to say, we all think
they are tops! Equipment used by the teams is handled by a
faculty supervisor and a staff of student managers 35 The
Cheering Block supplies vital support at all games 3
Active organizations at Central are designed to appeal
to many special interests From the Honor Soc1ety37 to the
H1 Y Clubu9 there is something for everybody, especially those
who enjoy being busy Not exactly idle are the students in
the music department 50 53'
Last of all come the students who began work last spring
on this record of our senior year Working seventh period
has labored to meet deadlines so that students may read this
We hope everybody enjoys our work as much as we have liked

ll Almost a century of teaching at Central has been
spent by these three men Mr Blackwood has taught for
thirty five years, Mr Zetterberg, thirty two, and Mr
Whittern, twenty seven Not only have they made many
important contributions to the education of countless
Centralites, but they have aided fellow teachers by
their work in professional organizations We'1l miss
them next year

13. Mr. Freistroffer joined the faculty in 1939 as
the first coordinator of distributive occupations. In
1919 Mr. Morrow began his work at Central as a drafting
teacher. In honor of the latter's thirty-five years of
service, Mr. Zetterberg, his close friend, established
a lapidary unit in Room 307. Faculty members, other
friends, and former students also contributed. During
the second semester the first students began work in
cutting, grinding, and polishing semi-precious stones.
They know the joy that Mr. Morrow experienced as he
worked at his favorite hobby
