STUDENT LEADERS AID P.E. CLASSES POOL LEADERS -- Row 1: G. Stirn, Mr. Streeter, M. Stirn. Row 2: D. Meeds, P. Swanson, D. Mauldin, K. McLeod, M. McCulloch, M. Getchman. Row 3: S. Bryant, A. Whitelock, L. Durall, L. Herth, P. Burrnan, E. Holme, K. Weed. SYM STUDENT LEADERS The student leaders for the P.E. classes provide efficient and necessary assistance. They have many different obligations to keep them busy. They call roll, lead exer- cises, help to teach the various activities, keep the locker in order and check in tow- els from the laundry. The girls' gym classes are taught sports such as volleyball, basketball, bowling, badminton, shuffleboard, ping pong, soft- ball, tennis, and archery. With the help of the student leaders, these sports are taught faster and easier. They demonstrate var- ious techniques, organize games, and sometimes participate in them. These girls lessen the burden on the teacher and help her to maintain smoothly-run gym classes. Sixty-Eight PDDL STUDENT LEADERS The pool leaders help Mr. Streeter to keep the swimming classes running smoothly and efficiently. These girls ex- plain and demonstrate various swimming skills, help the students to gain these skills, life-guard during class and for various other activities, and help at swim meets. Last spring the girls who were interested in becoming pool leaders filled out an ap- plication and took a swimming test. In addition to swimming ability, the girls had to show they were qualified by their lead- ership, responsibility, at least average scho- lastic ability in other classes, and citizen- ship around the school. The most qualified of these girls were chosen to assist Mr. Streeter. GYM LEADERS -- Row 1: P. Iohnson, L. Thompson, N. Tingstad, L. Muller, P. Hanly, M. Seidl. Row 2: S. Lawson, M. Hallawell, I. SCOTT Advisor Wee-Nook-Shi, Mount Tahoma's synchronized swimming group, gives girls an opportunity to enjoy aquatic sports and to learn form swimming skills. Each fall girls try out for the group and are accepted if they show ap- titude and are able to do the front crawl, back crawl, side stroke, breast stroke, dive, and surface dive. The more difficult skills, proper rhythm, and timing are learned after they become members. Wee-Nook-Shi met every Monday after school under the direction of Mrs. Scott and president Kolet Weed. After a business meeting and deck exercises, they practiced strokes and stunts in the Water. After Christmas they began to plan for their annual water show, which was presented in late March this year. The theme for the pageant was And Twelve Makes One. Each act represented one of the twelve months, which together, as represented in the finale, make one year. Each of the members participated in at least one of the acts. Featured were an April showers trio, a Iune wedding quartet, a duet by Marsha and Georgia Stirn, and solos by Eileen Holme and Kolet Weed KOLET WEED President
