IOHN NOBLE President RETAILER5 The Distributive Education program at Mount Tahoma has, in the past year, provided many benefits and educa- tional opportunities to the participating students. It has, through months of classroom Work, field trips, and demon- strations, fulfilled the many purposes for which it Was created. Each student was taught to develop a sense of individual responsibility and leadership. The students were encour- aged to use ethical practices in the club activities in order to prepare them for later Work in the business field. Eleven members of Retailers attended a state leadership conference in Yakima on March eighth, ninth, and tenth. Drena Christiansen took first place in job interview, Michele O'Brien won first place on her merchandise manual, and Terry Walters, Mary Kuenzli, and lanis Vickery took second place for their display. STREETER Advisor The purpose ot Spades was to provide knowledge, under- standing and friendship towards handicapped persons. Each Tuesday and Wednesday, Spades taught swimming to blind, deat, and crippled children. On Saturdays they taught children with any handicap. On Tuesday, Wednes- day, and Saturday, the children were taught in Mount Tahoma's pool. Held one Friday ot each month at the South Park Community Center was Handicans, Handicap Teen- Time. On November twenty-second members ot this club at- tended a convention in Bellingham. ln order ot further help others, members of our Mount Tahoma Spades sold Christmas stockings tor the United Cerebral Palsy association on December sixteenth through the twenty-first. In order to raise the club's own funds, Spades sponsored a dance on lanuary twentieth and held a car wash in the spring. BEV RADEK President

MR. TONE Advisor FUTURE TEAEHERS Future Teachers Club has been continued this year to acquaint Mount Tahorna students With the teaching pro- fession and to instill increased respect tor it. In December the club made a visitation to Manitou Grade School for this purpose. In the spring, the Universinty of Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran University were visited. Yearly activities included such services as teaching and helping at Manitou Grade School during the entire second semester, a tea for other F.T.A. clubs, and a tea for the Mount Tahorna teachers. Future Teachers increased their funds by mint sales in November, December, and again in March. The club again gave a one-hundred dollar scholarship to a deserving student.
