GEORGIA STIRN President Cleophas, which is Hebrew for friendship, is the Girls' Honorary Organization of Mount Tahoma. A girl becomes a member of Cleophas by outstanding work in Girls' Club and an accumulative grade point average of 2.8 or better. The main goal of these girls is to serve the school, build outstanding students, foster a scholarship, and build vital leaders. Cleophas members served the school by ushering for school plays and a PTA. open house in November, helping with the vocational conference in December, sponsoring the homecoming reception, and earning money for the school activity fund. This money was given to the school at three different times. Several of the girls worked at South Tacoma Chevrolet in September, earning one hundred dollars which they presented at an assembly in October, Fifty dollars was given toward a new school banner, Also, members of Cleo- phas helped sell Almond Roca to pay off the debt of the new band uniforms. Cleophas carried out its social life through teas, initia- tions, donut sales, promotion of tickets for Daffodil Princess selection, and a party in the spring for other school honor- aries in the city. SMITH Advisor HUNUR SUCIETY The purpose of the Honor Society is to create an en- thusiasm for superior scholarship, to develop loyal pupil citizenship, to stimulate a desire to serve faithfully one's school, community, and country, to promote trustworthy leadership and to install exemplary qualities of character in the pupils of Mount Tahoma High School, To become a member, a student must have' a 3.30 or better accumula- tive grade point average, The Honor Society's constitution Was officially recognized by the National Honor Society Headquarters in Washington, DO, giving the club its basis as an official chapter. ln order to increase its funds, Honor Society sponsored a bake sale in November and sold potato chips in lanuary. Taraya, T-Chicks, the G.A.A., proposed and enacted a girls' athletic program to promote health and physical fitness, develop an active interest in the tield ot athletics, and most important ot all, encourage good sportsmanship. This year's T-Chicks Was headed by the president, Pat l-lanly and di- rected by their advisor, Mrs. Scott. The otticers assisting in this year's work were Karren Brown, Vice President, Iean- nie Main, Secretary, and Pat Iohnson, Treasurer. ln September a splash party and cook-out were held. ln Ianuary a hair style demonstration was put on by the members. Also enjoyed through the year were a progress- ive dinner, a roller skating party, and the annual beach party at the home of Mrs. Scott. T-Chicks sponsored a candy sale during October and Ianuary, as in past years, in order to increase the club's treasury. The members of this club included all girls of Mount Tahoma's G.A.A. who had earned their letters. PAT HANLY President MRS. SCOTT Advisor
