EUUNSELURS AIU STUDENTS WITH FUTURE PLANS Congratulations to each of you in the class of l964l You have the honor of being a member of the first class to have completed a full three years at Mount Tahoma, you are the largest class to have earned diplomas thus far. You have learned teamwork which is exhibited by the manner in which you have worked harmoniously together as a large group. This example of what can be done is a fine heritage to leave to present and future Thunderbirds, You have provided leadership that exemplifies the truly democratic spirit of leadership we need in our community, in our state, in our nation, and in our world. Today's citizenry needs people who will assume responsibility - respon- sibility in recognizing the opportunities for continuing your education, that learning is a continuing process and does not cease with the exit from high school. You have the responsibility of promul- gating the creed of Abraham Lincoln that all men are created equal in all of your undertakings. You have witnessed exciting events in your three years at Mount Tahoma - the provision of a scholarship for a member of your class, the advent of the first classroom instruction via television in the city of Tacoma, the introduction of a new type of schedule in your high school programg the orbiting of man into space, the assassination of a president. You have had the privilege of having given helping hands to the handicapped in your work with SPADESg you have invited Commendation from COUNSELOR outside communities on your school spirit and enthusiasm. Mount Tahoma, particularly for you, has a great meaning. You are the first graduating class with your full three years on this campus. You have been an exceptionally fine group. Your co- operation, your spirit, your willingness to work with other students, faculty, and community, will long be remembered. Let the characteristics you have displayed as a class lead each of you from the pathways of Mount Tahoma up Mount Purpose, Mount Faith, Mount Courage, to the Road of Success. ln parting, but not forgetting, l give you one of my favorites - Allah's prayer: I pray the prayer the Easterns do: May the peace of Allah abide with you. Wherever you stay, wherever you go, May the beautiful palmsbf Allah grow. SENIOR COUNSELOR Greetings to the students of Mount Tahoma High School. You are to be commended for the record of accomplishments made this year in all areas of your school life. Much remains to be done but if the progress noted in the current year continues, Mount Tahoma will retain her claim to be the Best in the West. To the class of '64 a special word of commendation. You are the first full fledged graduation class of Mount Tahoma. Throughout three years you have contributed to the building of TfBird tra- ditions that will last for generations of high school students, and you can take pride in the quality of student leadership you have provided in this final year of your high school life. To the class of '65 - You are the immediate heirs of the T-Bird traditions of the last three years. You must now accept the challenge of leadership and move ahead to new accomplishments. Under your leadership Mount Tahoma can grow to new heights among the high schools of this area. To the class of '66 4 You are now completing your first year of high school life. You have be- gun to learn the traditions of loyalty to your school and the importance of your support of school activities. MAINTENANCE STAFF PRUVES FRIEND TU MT LUNCHROOM WORKERS - E, Skavlem, M, Kellogg, V. Waddell, M. Sherrill, M. Peterson, A. Botnen. The capable staff of cooks, who daily serves the students of Mount Tahoma, deserve a special note of thanks. Under the supervision of Mrs. Margaret Peterson, delicious and nourish- ing lunches Were available to hungry students throughout the year. This hard-Working staff Was also responsible for the milk and ice cream which was sold, and for the pleasant, clean atmosphere of the cafeteria. Another group of personnel who performed a valuable service during the past year was the staff of custodians. These men were loyal in their efforts to beautify our lovely campus, and could be seen many hours after the final bell performing such duties as cleaning the classrooms and halls.
