JAYVEES PRUVE TU BE DETERMINED GROUP . RESERVE WRESTLING - Row lt I. Overland, C. Iohnson, B. Warner, R. Aiken, B. Biber, I. Maplethorpe. Row 2: Coach Kronlund, I. Cozine, I. Mor- iord, S. Thompson, R. Tollefson, T. Ray, L. Scott. The reserve rnatmen, under the guidance ot varsity coach Gene Kronlund, didn't have their success measured in victories, h b h d an earnest desire to improve and land a varsity spot, and above all, but Where it really counts: sportsmanship. Eac oy a ' ' 'h l. E thou h the victory column was shy ot a number, all a responsibility to themselves in order to aptly represent their sc oo ven g t ' e ot the stiftest competition in the state among reserve squads. Inexperience ot the grapplers Worked extra hard, acing som was also a handicap which will be overcome in upcoming years. W'th ll the reserve matmen returning next season, this years experience promises next year's varsity team grapplers con- i a iidence and the qualities it takes to make a strong mat team in future years. THUNDERBIRD JAYVEES ENJUY RECURD SEASUN RESERVE BASKETBALL - Row H. Holcomb, B. Reagan, I. Makela, P. O'Neill, R. Schatz, C. Davies. Row 2: Coach Theno, L. Trutman, B. Rytkonen, D. Dudley, L. .Tornqu1st, D. Hendrickson, A. Metzker. Coach Milt Theno's junior varsity squad, a combination of last year's city champion sophomore team plus a few return- ing junior varsity players from last year, won a total of six games the past season, a record number for a T-Bird reserve squad. It appeared the reserves would field a good squad from the very start of the season. As Coach Moseid cut his var- sity down to size, he found it difficult picking the last few positions. Because of this keen competition for these remaining positions, those sent down to Mr. Theno's squad showed above average talent on the court. The high point of the season was the final game. Against a strong Wilson squad, our T-Bird cagers completely dominated the game. Coach Moseid will certainly take a good look at these cagers for next year's varsity squad. One-Hundred-Five
