Teams of 1975 % Grappling their way to a fine season, the Varsity wrestling team picked up numerous individual medals and one team trophy (2nd place at the Baldwin Park Novice Tournament) enroute to an 8 win, 10 loss mark in dual meet competition. However it was individual efforts that stood out. Junior Dave Carney who pinned 14 of his opponents, just missed qualifying for the CD? Finals as he placed fifth in the GIF Prelims. Junior Gary Pino was selected by his teammates as a co- captain and also the most valuable wrestler on the Varsity team. Freshmen Mike Earnest performed well in his first year as he pinned 10 of his opponents. Placing in league finals were Gary Pino and Dave Carney, 2nd; Rick Jimenez, John Goodsell, 3rd; and Kevin Kee, 4th. Mountain View ' s JVs emerged with a winning rec- ord as they recorded 6 wins against 4 losses on the season. Freshman Dale Fike was named the most val- uable JV wrestler as he showed great promise for mak- ing the varsity next year. Terry Macias, voted most improved, was undefeated as aJ.V. winning 4 matches, 3 of which were by pin. Co-captains Mark Forbush and Steve Sanchez provided the leadership for the junior matmen.
