I search for life and its meaning and wonder If I can find it behind the stone-cold image of the mirror. I leave the reflections, the images. And challenge myself And dedicate myself — For I realize that dedication is learning from life. " I am only one . . . But I am one . . . I cannot do everything . but still . . . I can do something And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. " Edward Everett Hale Dedication is the inner glow Of my soul in communion With the world, Where I have found a purpose, The grasping of life As a whole, As fragments of disoriented enchantments Fall into place. And I won ' t let go ' Til my goal is done. Or my dreams are gone. ' H .Tl.»« •• 1 I find a purpose In the unfinished work Diligently begun by those who passed this way. And I strive to reach their heights of attainment and beyond. Who will finish what I have begun? I look and discover that Dedication is all around me, In the eyes of my teachers, In the quest of the scholar, In the goals of the athlete, In the high ideals, aims, and strivings Of every individual devoted to an effort. Working toward a goal, Shooting for the stars. Will they ever reach them? I 11 ' I Dedication is a lonely work, And when the fiery flames of enthusiasm are gone, I search among the embers and find I am left with only the ashes, and memories of well-meant promises and glimmering visions of glory And I begin again. Under the leader- ship of Coach Beard, the Spartan team made several impressive show- ings. Sparked by All-Tournament players Billy and Frank Pritchard, the team won the John Carroll Tourna- ment. Billy Pritchard was the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. In the Shades Valley Tournament, Billy Pritchard again made the All- Tournament team. Sharp shooters Laird Barnett and Billy Pritchard, supported by a spirited bench, played key roles. I want to snatch this moment to myself but I will drop it when the next bell rings. Who will remember this tint of green later when memories fade and run like still-wet paint and violate the sharp black outlines etched now in the convolutions of my brain. Anonymous As I sit upon my yellow throne, I gaze out the window. And my mind wonders, curious of what lurks on its other side. Darkness. ' yes. But what is enveloped by darkness.- One cannot tell, For the reflections of the light within Block out all that is beyond. But my thoughts are too deep. So I sit back in my chair. And hope that you are there When the new day comes. And the darkness becomes light. Bill Martin nighttime voices drift in and out in and out and through to you spilling fountains of thought, unexpressed, but nevertheless, understood — bathing the mind with each other ' s presence, thus the essence of our time — drifting into watching, waiting, listening to clicks of lifebeat. Farewell, dear friend, farewell. Anonymous 167 168 Years spent pushing and striving — blending and searching " Class of — better than you! Inventing for the best of him, and for the ones to come. He has worked for the future time For all, as well as some. From life to death, to life uncovered He has made this ture By the dream of man he has discovered His life is for the good anew. Left behind his works of life For others his respect. In all the time, and pain, and strife He knows his genius is not reject. In heaven all have shared their lives. And into eternity will do the same. For knowledge unknowing, he has strived. His life ' s not been in worthless vain. Vincent Amaro Here i sit alone: Glad to be alive, while Others are dying. Thankful to be happy While the candle sheds wax tears. Libby Laughlin And so the years he had seen were covered by the years he had not seen. His breath was now still but was yet to be drawn in what had been. He had not been steady near the last but now he was steadied in his rest. And now he, in his steadiness, shared " past " name and so nobody cried and nobody came.
