According to the records, Miss Green was engaged in the teaching profession forty-three years, thirty of these years in the Mt. Vernon Schools. In our association with Miss Green we became aware of her philosophy - that there is no boy or girl entirely badg that there is always some good in all students, although some of us at times try to hide it. She was always in search of the best potentialities in youn people and did her utmost to stimulate the devefopment of them. May we say, "Tip of the Topper, Miss Green,' or in other words, hats off to youg and here is wishing you loads of success and happiness where ever you may go and what ever you may do. Seniors of '54 I Indiana Universityg Evansville College: Indiana State Teachers College, B, 5, xii' ff . 'sqm Carla Potter presents the gift from the school at the school party. This year saw the inauguration of a system of non-credit classes which met weekly for nine ses sions. Students were given a chance to suggest courses to supplement those suggested by the faculty, and then chose the one of their choice. Enrollment was entirely voluntary. Four local public-spirited women assisted in our first series: Mrs. Ira Rothrock in art, Mrs. Holger Anderson, Mrs. Oscar Bottomley, and Mrs. Francis Knowles in crafts. Other classes offered were etiquette, science demonstrations, word study and vocabulary, personal typing, music appreciation, household maintenance for girls, gardening and landscaping, spelling, square dancing, and choosing your college. These and other courses were offered again during the second semester. From a total enrollment of 533 SU1d6f1tS,42l stud- ents were enrolled in the 12 courses offered. We feel that this innovation can and will widen worthwhile interests for our students.
