4 ff SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Anthony Marro Treasurer Ualy Joan McGa1'ry Secretary Joseph COUUIJI Presulent Thoma Halpm P166 Presulent Mount Sami Ioesph Academy Rutland, Vermont Rev. fohn A. Lynch, Principal e AH9L7fT Volume 21 1960 Foreword Time is a swift thing-so long to live through yet so short when looked back upon. We are at that "looking back" point now. Four years have been spent here at the Mount -four years of happiness and tears, fun and work-four long years added to the calendar of eternity. How does one measure this time? By the inches we've grown or the amount of knowl- edge our minds have acquired? No, rather it is best determined by the development of our character. For it is this Christian char- acter which will enable us to live richer and fuller lives in the world of tomorrow. Carm. The entire student body took part in the Retreat, which began the day after midyear exams and lasted for three days. These three days were spent in prayer, meditation, spiritual reading. the sacraments, and conferences with Father Nagle. The purpose of the Retreat is to bring the student to a closer union with God and re- mind him of his duties to God, his neighbor, and his country. As Father Nagle told the students, each Retreat works in a different way for each student. It brings to mind serious ideas and ideals often buried by the worries and strain of todayis modern world. This yearis Retreat gave us three days of contemplation and peace to realize that we are not just people with the usual everyday troubles, but Catholics with a soul that should spend its eternity with God. But whether or not that soul will find and keep on the right road to Happiness is entirely up to us. The student body receives the Papal Blessing from Father Nagle, our Retreatmaster. Father Nagle administers Communion at the Mass which marked the closing of the Retreat. K lx- , fi 'l I 1 , r Father Nagle was glad to visit with any of the students that came to see him.
