Both the baseball and basketball teams earned impressive records. Coach is a favorite with the students who are whde heartedly behind him. Nw. Jones graduated from Western State Teachers College where he was an outstanding athlete receiving letters in football, baseball, knsketball and track. Besides his regular coaching duties Coach taught World History,spon- sored the "M" Club and Senior Class. HFEKTH CS - 4 I FU 181 1 ROW 1: G. Mason, R. Richner, B. Dittus, H Hahn, W. Brown. ROW 2: J. Brown, D. Ey, F. Armstrong, D. Veech, J. Romer, Coach Jones. The Varsity basketball team this year came through the season with 23 won and 5 lost record. This is one of the best records in school history. Their' biggest thrill came in the 47to45 win over the Lincoln Railsplitters on the home court. The squad was composed of four seniors, four juniors and two sophomores. The loss by graduation of Wendell Brown, Bill Dittus, Dick Ey, and Ray Richner will cut deeply into the squad, since they have added much depth to the squad. The shoes of BiI1Dittus will be hardest to fill. He made an impressive average of 16.7 points per game. He also served as team captain. The juniors, Forrest Armstrong, Glen Mason, Jim Romer, and Delmar Veech added much strength to the team and gained a great deal of valuable experience. The soph- omores contributed much to the team's success. Harry Hahn, the biggest man ofthe squad served as the reguhr center. Jim Brown was a reserve guard. M WERNTZ The school year of 1950-51 marked Mr. Werntz's fifth consecutive year as instrumental instructor at M.P.T.H.S. He was also here in 1941 before he was called into service with the Army for four years. This year he directed the band and the Rhythm- aires. He also took the maximum number of ensembles, and solos to the contest, along with the band. In ad- dition to this, Mr. Werntz directed a Ministrel Show, which was an overwhelming success, drawing one of the largest crowds in the history of M.P.T.H.S. Mr. Werntz has done an outstanding job in the music department. Due to his efforts, this year's band promised to be one of the best the school has had. Our hats are off to you,Mr. Werntz. " "On this day in August, 1972, were gathered in this high school for two reasons--the first and most important is the dedication of the new high school, and the second reason is for the twentieth annual reunion of the Class of 1952. We are lucky to have the school ready for the fall LCl'lTl. This magnificent building was designed by David Froehlick and was built by Alfred Warren and his carpenters. This tremendous project cost the community Sl,OOO,532. 15. Several additions have been added for the convenience of the students. A large auditorium that seats 7, 500 peoplcg improved physical education facilities, which includes a swimming pool and seperate gyms for the boys and girlsg a large sound-proof projection room: and a sound-proof music room that is large enough for the band to practice in. A new shop was added that contains all the new modern electrical devices. A cafeteria was built in this school which is a great advantage for the students. The majority of the faculty starting in this new school are members of the class of '52, Lois Schaffenacker is the new director of the 175 piece marching band and the 80 piece concert band. Forrest Armstrong is the coach of basketball and baseball. Jim Romer is the coach of football and track. The Girl's Physical Education teacher is Judy Baker. Melvin Moore is the teacher of foreign languages. All of you helped pay for this building. Let's all C0-Operate with the faculty, school board, and students to make this a bigger and better school." "This is Wallace Kautz again. A tour of the entire school follows and then refreshments will be served in the cafeteria: but let's follow the class of '52 to John Hahn's for the final stage of their reunion. Mr. Hahn is the owner of a chain of restaurants that extend across the United States. Here we are at John's. It's a beautiful eating place. This is the opening. i The Afirst ones to arrive are Harold Turley, Delmar Veech, and Bill McCain. Harold is the first Admiral to command the new, improved atomic submarine. Delmar and Bill have just returned from their trip testing their new, modernistic, space ship used for interplanatory travel. Here come these four inseperable fliers, Harold Stopher, Harold Tendick, Jr., Marvin liichner, and Jerry Sams. They were given the awards of the "Outstanding Flying Farmers" of tie year, PROPHECU Miss Donna Huston is entering with Jackie Gaffney. Donna, as usual, is busy talking, She is telling Jackie fnow with the New York BalletCompanyJ of her experiences as National F, H. A, advisor. Glen Mason also enters talking, Sounds like he's telling john Riedle and l-laldon Bowers about the last game of the Minneapolis Lakers, of which he is the star. John is the champion stock car racer. He has become a multi-millionaire from the races he has won. Haldon is the .champion midget auto racer of the United States. l-Ie drove the first jet propelled midget racer that came out. The jet racer was designed by Merwyn Leckbee. Here come a group of girls. All of these girls are employed as secretaries, or were a short time ago. Elizabeth Sc iroth has filled the vacancy left by Carole Marshall as secretary to the President of the' Continental Insurance Company. Carole was the former champion typist. Arleen Kinert is secretary to the Treasurer ofthe United States. Betty Erlenbush fthe former Betty Ayersj gives a quite a bit of her time to her job as secretary to the principal of the new high school, but she still has time for her home duties and bringing up her children. Now entering is a group of musicians, Don Lee is the new conductor of the New York Symphony Orchestra. Margaret Shively is conductor of Shively's All Girl Philharmonic Orches- tra. Margaret Hutter is the vocal soloist for Miss Shively. Over in the corner checking their coats are Richard Stivers and Mrs. Robert Smith. Mrs. Smith fthe former Ina Palmerj was chosen as the "Outstanding Mother of the Year" in the national contest. Richard is the professor of agriculture at the Central University. Here comes three girls who have made much progress in life--Carol Harvey, Joan Biesemeier, and Hilda Allen, Carol has earned much recognition because of her discovery of the cure for cancer. Ioan is a great lady senator known for her debates in the Senate. Hilda owns a beautiful winter resort in Florida where she has a thriving business, patronized by the wealthiest people in the country. This completes the Class of 1952. They are all here so the meal is ready to be served. My time is up so I'll be signing off. This is Wallace Kautz for Station MPTV, thanking you all for being with us.
