ff ZEC EEHNHRHDH IN MEMORIAM WILLIAM WHITING Born May 24, 1841 Died January 9, 1911 FTER a long life of service, William Whiting. for many years the first citizen of Holyoke, laid down his many duties and philanthropies. For many years he had been closely identified with the business and political life of his city and state and, though primarily a business man, he never neglected the scholarly life. Always a student he was deeply interested in institutions of learning, and for sixteen years served as trustee of Mount Holyoke College. In his death we. as well as the city of Holyoke, have lost a valued and efficient friend. I7
