During the year of 1953, we have had our "Snowman Dancef and worked hard on our football concession stand. Our junior Class Play was canceled due to the remodeling of the auditorium. Our officers for this year are: President, Dick Zolman, Vice-President, Caynell Johnson, Secretary, Donna Muffley, and Treasurer, Marilee Branarnan. After basketball season, a party was given to the boys, by the girls, for winning the magazine con- test, which was very successful. Our Junior-Senior Banquet rewarded us with great success, with the help of our advisers, Miss Kornman and Mr. Oakes, who helped make our 'junior year a big success. Gilead 43 Yvestmont 49 The Indians had a most successful season with a record of 20 Wins and 4 losses. This team has gone further than any team in the history of Mt. Gilead High School. The team was among one of the 16 teams in Ohio surviving District Tournament play in Class B competition. Our Indians won tro- phies in the Mid-Buckeye Conference, the Mid-Ohio Conference, and the District Tournament. Not only our students, but the surrounding communities backed our winning team throughout the victorious season of 1953-54. The Student Council is composed of a boy and girl representative from each class with the exception of the Seniors. They have two boys and two girls. VVe sponsored the Homecoming Dance, and a Christmas party. Both were a great success. ln April We sponsored a tree dance for the entire student hotly. A March of Dimes dance was held early in the year with the students contributing very gener- ously. The Student Council is in charge of the All-School picnic at the end of the year.
