USS MOUN BAK QCA ,Spy . ' me A fc Q ' . A 5. Q ' 1 . 5 T81 As an integral unit of the Navys Combat Logistics Force CCLFJ, USS MOUNT BAKERS primary mis- sion is to provide logistic support for sustained combat operations at sea. In effecting these vital services, MOUNT BAKER enhances the Navys ability to carry out its mission in support of national policies. In the long term, without logistic support our forces cannot endure and win. As part of the Navys general purpose forces, MOUNT BAKER performs the supporting naval Warfare task of resupplying com- bat consumables to forces at sea. This type of support is necessary in order to achieve and maintain the Navys requirement for a high degree of logistical independence. These efforts enable the Navy to perform its functions of sea con- trol and projection of power ashore more effectively. By participating in fleet exercises with national and NATO forces, MOUNT BAKER maintains her op- erational proficiency. Personnel and material readiness are the underpin- ning for the successful conduct of these operations. The USS MOUNT BAKER is assigned to Combat Logistics Force TWO in Combat Logistics Group TWO of the Naval Surface Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. 1 1 fw N -k L-' Q I - f is--' .X XL VK- L R r.fx- 'X ,x - c ek lc M 'V ' ,JW ' ,fs J X re. We have set the standard for all other Logistic Ships to follow. We have been in some good ports of call over the last six months like Rota, Spain, Cannes, Francep Djibouti, Bahrain, Iebel Ali, and many others. We have taken part in many operations, and each time we have shown the Low Country Express Team was professional from the Commanding Officer to the most junior Sailor aboard. From transiting the Suez Canal fThe Ditchj to conducting Escort Operations in the Arabian Guif, to short notice UNREPS, the Low Country Express was there each time to answer the call. To sum everything up in a few words, you are the finest crew any Naval Ship could have, and I am proud of each and every one of you, and proud to be your Command Master Chief. Remember, plan for the future because you can't change the past! Master Chief Boatswain Mate Strickland was born and raised in Nichols, South Carolina. He entered the Naval Service in October 1975.
